CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- University of New Hampshire senior forward Chris Banks has been chosen America East Men's Soccer Fans' Choice Player of the Year through a vote conducted at AmericaEast.com. Banks received 40 percent of the vote, getting 821 of over 2,000 tallies. University of Hartford senior forward Carlos Villa was second with 316 votes, while Binghamton University's Ryan Walter came in third with 251.
Banks ranks fifth overall among league leaders with 16 points on six goals and four assists, while his 11 points and four goals in conference play rank second best. The 2006 Striker of the Year, Banks led the Wildcats to their first-ever outright regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming America East Championship for the first time in program history. UNH's 6-0-1 conference record marks the first time a team has gone through league play unbeaten since Hofstra completed the feat in 1997.
Voting was conducted October 27-November 2 with one candidate listed per school.
The rest of the America East Men's Soccer awards will be announced November 4 at AmericaEast.com.
