Men's Basketball: Boston U. Knocks Off Indiana Friday; Four More Games Saturday

Fordham at Hartford, 2 p.m.
Hartford looks for its second straight win after a 37-point drubbing of Marist Wednesday... Andres Torres has racked up 23 assists against just two turnovers in three games... Joe Zeglinski has 15 3-pointers in three games.

UMBC at George Washington, 2 p.m.
These Mid-Atlantic rivals meet for the seventh time in their history... GW, who downed Boston U. 69-59 Tuesday, will face its second straight America East opponent... Chauncey Gilliam had 21 points in UMBC's near comback win over Loyola Wednesday.

Detroit at Albany, 7 p.m.
Albany takes on Detroit on the second day of the 2K Sports Classic benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer Albany subregional... Will Harris scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the Great Danes' win over Alcorn St. Friday.

Stony Brook at Wagner, 7 p.m.
Stony Brook looks to improve to 3-0 when it takes on its Staten Island rival... The Seahawks won last year's meeting, 65-62... Tommy Brenton had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the loss... He's averaging 12 boards so far this season.

at Albany 71, Alcorn St. 55 (2K Sports Classic)
The Great Danes held Alcorn St. to 35 percent shooting en route to a win on the first day of 2K Sports Classic benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer Albany subregional... Will Harris scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Derrek Tartt added 13 off the bench and hitting on 4-of-5 attempts.

Boston University 71, vs. Indiana 67  (P.R. Tip-Off)
The Terriers outscored the Hoosiers 16-6 over the final five minutes to earn Patrick Chambers his first victory as a head coach... Reigning Rookie of the Year Jake O'Brien recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds... John Holland added a game-high 21 off the bench.

at Maryland 82, New Hampshire 55
The Terrapins shot 56 percent for the game and made 16-of-25 attempts in the second half to down the Wildcats... Colbey Santos had a team-high 14 points and made four 3-pointers of the bench for UNH.

at St. Bonaventure 66, Binghamton 40
The Bonnies used a 38-10 run bridging the two halves to outlast the Bearcats... Chretien Lukusa led Binghamton with 12 points and five rebounds... Moussa Camara added nine points.


 



Jake O'Brien tallied his first career double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds and John Holland added a game-high 21 points to lead the Boston University men's basketball team (1-3) past Indiana (2-2), 71-67, on Friday night during day two of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The Terriers trailed 61-55 with 5:06 remaining but finished with a 16-6 run to pull out their first victory over a Big Ten team since 2004.

 

BU finished under 30 percent from the field on 17-of-58 shooting but overcame the cold shooting by outrebounding the Hoosiers, 52-32, and scoring 19 second chance points against Indiana's three. The Terriers also hit 29-of-40 attempts from the free throw line at 72.5 percent.

Tyler Morris was the other BU player in double-figures with 13 points, while Jeff Pelage added nine rebounds. Corey Lowe also had eight points and eight rebounds. Freshman B.J. Bailey made a positive impact in his first game after being out the first three games with a concussion, contributing three points and two rebounds.

Maurice Creek scored all of his 17 points in the first half to lead Indiana, while Verdell Jones III added 14 points and six assists. Jeremiah Rivers finished with 13 points.

Indiana led 34-29 on a 3-pointer by Devan Dumes at the end of the first half and pushed the lead to 40-31 a few minutes after the break. But the Terriers rallied to tie it 65-65 on a pair of free throws by Corey Lowe with 2:53 to go.

Carlos Strong and Lowe each made a free throw in the closing seconds to help the Terriers hang on.

The Terriers will next face No. 21 Georgia Tech on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 12:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
