Men's Soccer Championship Field Set, Tournament Begins Nov. 7

The 2009 America East Men's Soccer Championship seedings and pairings are set after Saturday's pivotal contests.

Stony Brook (5-9-3, 4-2-1, 13 pts. America East) downed Hartford (7-7-2, 4-2-1, 13) 1-0 to earn the No. 2 seed and a bye to the semifinal round. The Hawks, who are the No. 3 seed, will host No. 6 Boston University (9-6-2, 2-4-0, 9) in a quarterfinal matchup on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.

Binghamton (9-7-1, 4-3-0, 12) shut out UMBC (12-5-0, 3-4-0, 9) 4-0 to earn the No. 3 seed. The Bearcats, who have appeared in a record six straight conference title games will welcome the fifth-seeded Retrievers back to Bearcats Sports Complex next Saturday in the other quarterfinal contest.

Top-seeded New Hampshire (9-5-2, 6-0-1, 19), the first America East squad to get through conference play unbeaten since Hofstra in 1997, will take on the Binghamton-UMBC winner in one semifinal on Nov. 11. The Seawolves, who went 4-0-1 over their last five games to earn the No. 2 seed, will face the winner of Boston U.-Hartford in the other semi.

The championship game will be played on either Nov. 14 or 15 at the highest remaining seed.
