Several America East Swimming & Diving Programs head to warmer climates for winter training trips in the new year, with Stony Brook University and Binghamton University competing in Florida and Boston University traveling to Puerto Rico. The Bearcats and the Terriers will compete this week, while the Seawolves swam in the Orange Bowl Classic in Key Largo, Fla. on Saturday, January 3.
Leading the Seawolves was freshman Ian Francis who swam for third-place finishes in the 50- and 100-meter backstrokes with times of 31.00 and 1:08.35, respectively. Classmate Deirdre Leong was the driving force for the women, earning three Top 10 finishes on the day. The freshman earned sixth in the 50-meter backstroke (33.68), ninth in the 100-meter backstroke (1:13.48) and was a member of the sixth place 200-meter medley relay team.
