Q. Why I Chose Stony Brook University:
A- I chose Stony Brook University because it offered me a chance to play basketball and receive a great education at the same time. Stony Brook has a great Health Science major and earning a degree from Stony Brook with that major will set me up for a successful career.
Q. Favorite class and why:
A- My favorite class so far at Stony Brook has been my Sign Language class with Melissa Scali. I learned a unique way of communication. I have a hearing disability myself, so I appreciated the course so much. Taking this class has allowed me the skills to communicate with the deaf community.
Q. One thing I have learned at Stony Brook that I will carry with me for the rest of my life is:
A- There are two important things I have learned at Stony Brook that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. First are time management skills. It is so hard to be a student-athlete and achieve great things in the classroom and on the court; time management is key. I have also learned how to be a leader.
Q. My Dream Job, other than the NBA/WNBA, is:
A- My dream job, other than the WNBA is to work with children who have a mental disability. My passion is for little children and to help them how I was helped throughout my life.
Q. The person, other than my parents, who has had the most influence on me is, and why:
A- The person other than my parents who has had the most influence on me is my grandmother. She has taught me lessons in life and is also my outlet when I become frustrated.
Q. The best thing about being a Stony Brook Seawolf is:
A- The best thing about being a Stony Brook Seawolf is that I get to play basketball and represent a great school.
Q. Most memorable moment as an athlete:
A- I’ve had a lot of memorable moments as an athlete. I’ve loved competing and traveling to new places in the country. I really liked playing in the state playoffs to win the state title.
Q. What I did this week as a student (classes, tests, projects, study hall):
A- We have not started the spring semester yet so I didn’t have any classes or study hall. I was able to read some books that I didn’t have time to read during the fall because I was studying.
Q. What I did this week as an athlete (practice, games):
A- Last week we played Vermont and lost. We’ve watched a lot of film and prepared for our Binghamton game after that. We played really hard against them but ended up losing by 5 points.
Q. Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is:
A- Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is to follow your passion. Take advantage of all of the opportunities given to you.
Q. Why I am looking forward to the America East Basketball Championship:
A- I am looking forward to the America East Basketball Championship because I want to win and turn heads of those who underestimated us. I also want to go to the NCAA tournament.
