CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- In a dual meet
against Maine this weekend, junior Wesley Moseman (Remsen, N.Y./Holland-Patent)
and sophomore Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia/Berkshire Prep) each
ran for a first place finish for New Hampshire earning themselves America East Men
and Women’s Performer of the Week honors.
Moseman set
a strong pace, finishing the course in 25:54.73 and edging out the second and
third place runners from Maine by
only 20 seconds. Moseman’s win propelled
his squad to an eight-point win over the Black Bears.
Letourneau
posted an impressive 18:10.41 time in the race, narrowly defeating Maine’s
Corey Conner by a three second margin. New
Hampshire had three runners finish in the top five,
but suffered a tough five point loss at the hands of the Black Bears.
In this week’s U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, America East had eight teams ranked in
the Northeast top-15 between the men and women. Stony Brook women led the
pack earning themselves third in the Northeast and 30th nationally. Following the Seawolves in the region was Vermont
in 11th, Binghamton in
13th, Maine in 14th,
and New Hampshire in 15th.
For the men, New
Hampshire, Binghamton,
and Stony Brook all found their way into the regional polls, landing 12th,
13th, and 15th, respectively.
Albany- The Great Danes enjoyed a week of rest after
completing a tough opening schedule including three nationally ranked opponents
for the women. The squads return to action on Friday,
October 3 when they head to Maryland
to take on America East rival UMBC in the Towson Invitational.
Binghamton- The Bearcats rested their legs this week and
prepare to take on over 40 teams, including Stony Brook men, in the Paul Short
Run on Friday, October 3.
Boston U.- Boston U, did not compete this week and will
continue to train next week for the New England Championship in Franklin
Park, Mass., on October 11th Hartford,
Maine, Vermont,
and New Hampshire will also be
competing.

Hartford- The Hawks ran in the 32nd Annual Victor
F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational in Fairfield, Conn.
on Saturday, September 27. Both teams
ran against 10 other teams, with the women taking home sixth and the men,
eighth. Senior Elizabeth Foster
continued her dominant start to the season, posting her third team-leading finish
for the Hawks this year with a second-place overall finish. Foster completed the 5,000-meter course in
19:04.95; just eight seconds shy of the race leader. Likewise, Jonas Hampton, a sophomore for the
men, posted his third top-finish for his squad in as many races. Hampton
crossed with a time of 26:40 in the 8,000-meter course, earning a 20th
overall finish.
Hartford's Story
Maine- The Black Bears squared off in a dual meet against
America East rival New Hampshire
in Orono, Maine
on Friday, September 26. The women took
home first-place behind a strong performance by Corey Conner, a freshman, who
placed second overall with a time of 18:13.58.
Maine edged out UNH
by only five points thanks to its dominance down the stretch as the Black Bears
secured 11 of the top 15 slots. Junior Chris
Harmon was the leader for the men, earning a second-place finish with a
26:06.37 time. The men fell to the
Catamounts by a narrow eight-point margin.
Maine's Story
UMBC- The Retrievers, who have had two weeks off, are
gearing up for the Towson Invitational in Cockeysville,
Md. on Friday, October 3. Oregon
Ridge Park,
the site of the invitational, will also be the course of the America East
Championships on Saturday, November 1.
New Hampshire- The Wildcats took on Maine
in a dual meet this weekend where the men defeated the Black Bears and the
women came in second with a combined point spread of 13 in the two races. The top four slots of each race were equally
divided with the Wildcat men taking first and fourth, and the women first and
third. Junior Wesley Moseman set the
pace with his first-place 25:54 finish and led his team to and eight-point win
over Maine. Allison Letourneau, a sophomore, crossed with
a time of 18:10.41 and a first-place overall finish. The women finished just five points behind
the Black Bears.

New Hampshire Women's Story
Stony Brook- The Seawolves did not compete this week and
will travel separately next week as the men head to Lehigh to take part in the
Paul Short Run and the women to Notre Dame for its invitational. The women, who were ranked third in the
Northeast region for the second consecutive week, hope to gain some ground
against number one, Providence, and
number two, Boston College.
Vermont- The Catamounts did not compete this week and
instead prepared for the upcoming the Vermont State Meet at Castleton
State on Saturday, October 4.
