 CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- University of Maine's Jasmine Phillips (Nepean, Ontario/Merivale) and University of Vermont's Emily Perrin (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) have been named America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, in women's soccer for the week ending September 1.

Phillips, a senior goalkeeper, allowed just one goal in two games and helped the Black Bears stay unbeaten on the season. She made four saves in a scoreless tie against Massachusetts on Friday to record her 29th career shutout and extend her own school record. Phillips also saved four shots in a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Rhode Island on Sunday. Through three games this season, Phillips has allowed just one goal on her way to a pair of shutouts and 0.29 goals against average.

In her first career start, Perrin  notched her first career score in a 2-1 win over Central Connecticut on Friday. Perrin, a freshman forward, beat the Blue Devils’ keeper on a one-on-one in the 68th minute to break a 1-1 deadlock. She was one of four Catamounts named to the TD Banknorth Classic All-Tournament squad.

Albany (1-2-0, 0-0-0 America East) took a 1-0 loss at Lehigh on Sunday afternoon in its only match of the week ... The game-winning goal was scored in the 89th minute of action ... Eight of the 11 starters in all three matches have been freshmen and sophomores ... Freshman goalkeeper Cate Crenson (North Salem, N.Y./North Salem) has a .815 save percentage and 1.55 goals against average to date ... The UAlbany defense features four newcomers and a freshman goalkeeper ... UAlbany will host Youngstown State in its home opener on Friday at 4 p.m. before traveling to Brown on Saturday for a 6 p.m. tilt ... Teresa Boring (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) scored twice to help lead the Great Danes to a 2-1 victory over the Penguins in the first meeting between the schools in Youngstown, Ohio last fall.

Binghamton (2-1-0, 0-0-0 America East) went 1-1 on the week, earning the team's second win of the season with a 2-0 shutout of NJIT.  Two days earlier, the Bearcats battled host LIU to overtime before surrendering the game's lone goal 2:13 into the extra session... Just one week into the 2008 season, Binghamton is already one win away from equaling their total from the entire 2007 season... Freshman forward AnnMarie Rizzi (Cornwall, N.Y.,/Cornwall) scored her second game-winner of the season in the shutout of NJIT... Junior midfielder Amanda Casares (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) and freshman linemate Taylor Kucharski (Maine, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) each drew her second assist of the season on the play... Seniors Charlotte Foster (Rochester,N.Y./Pittsford-Sutherland) and Kim Thomas (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) combined on the second goal with Foster netting her first of the season... Junior keeper Jen McEachron (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick Falls) needed to make just two saves to earn her first shutout of the season.  McEachron lowered her goals against average to 0.64... Binghamton concludes its three-game road swing with a Sunday contest at Holy Cross.

Boston University (1-2-0, 0-0-0 America East) stands at 1-2-0 on the young season after splitting its games last week with URI and South Carolina... The Terriers opened the week with a 1-0 win in Kingston, R.I., as senior Jennifer Herman (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) tallied the game’s lone goal with a strike in the 69th minute to lift the squad over the Rams... Sophomore Lina Cords provided the assist off a corner kick... Three days later, BU fell, 1-0, to South Carolina... Sophomore goalkeeper Janie Reilly got the nod in both games and came away with seven total saves... The Terriers continue their road stretch with Princeton on Friday, Sept. 5 at 5:00 p.m. and Connecticut on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1:00 p.m.

Hartford (2-1-1, 0-0-0 America East) split a pair of 1-0 games on its Florida road trip last week, downing Stetson University on Friday before falling at the University of Central Florida on Sunday... Senior Lauren Aldred (Manchester, England/Oklahoma Baptist University) scored her first career goal against Stetson, finding the back of the net off a direct kick. Freshman Lauren Brodeur (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) did her part in goal, making three saves to post her second shutout of the season... UCF scored in the 82nd minute to hand Hartford its first loss of the season. The goal was also the first the Hawks had allowed in 2008. Hartford held opponents scoreless for the first 370 minutes of the season... The Hawks return to action next weekend at the George Mason Tournament. Hartford will take on George Mason on Friday and Georgetown on Sunday.

Maine (1-0-2, 0-0-0 America East) played two tough Atlantic 10 opponents in Umass and Rhode Island and tied them both...In the game against UMass, senior keeper Jasmine Phillips recorded her 29th career shutout against UMass, and made several tough saves to preserve the tie...Maine out shot the Minutewomen 8-6 and a 7-4 margin in shots on goal...In a physical contest against Rhode Island, Maine took control in the second half only to see Rhode Island take the lead with 15 minutes left...Maine answered five minutes later when senior captain Kim Stephenson (Hampden, Maine/Hampden) hit a corner kick that went right to freshman Carolyne Nellis (Quebec City, Quebec/FX Garneau) who headed it in for her for her first collegiate goal...Rhode Island out shot Maine 11-9, but the Black Bears had the edge in shots on goal by a margin of 8-5... Maine has only allowed one goal through its first three games, its lowest opponents goal total in the first three games of a season since the ’04 season...Maine returns to action on Friday at Temple and plays at Iona on Sunday.

UMBC (0-4-0, 0-0-0 America East) dropped both games at the D.C. Invitational, falling to host Georgetown, 7-0, on Aug. 29, and to American, 1-0, on Aug. 31... Senior goalie Christine Bacinski (Hampstead, Md./Mount de Sales) made a season-high eight saves against the Hoyas... Freshman keeper Mo Van Vlerah (Boyds, Md./Northwest) stopped six shots against the Eagles, tying her career high... UMBC held American scoreless in the first half, the first time the Retrievers have not allowed a first-period goal this season... Next up for the Retrievers is Sacred Heart at home on Friday.

New Hampshire (1-2-0, 0-0-0 America East) went 0-2-0 last week at the TD Banknorth Classic, getting edged by Big East power Villanova, 2-1, and Central Connecticut, 1-0 ... senior goalkeeper Nikki Golding (Milton, Mass./Milton) was named to the 2008 TD Banknorth Classic All-Tournament Team after making a career-high eight saves against Villanova to keep the Wildcats in the match ... junior forward Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) was also named to the All-Tournament Team after tallying UNH’s only goal of the Classic, her first of the season ... junior goalkeeper Ally Yost (Langhorne, Pa.) delivered her second one-goal performance of the season in as many matches, making three saves against CCSU ... the Wildcats return to action Sep. 4 at 4:30 p.m. when they hit the road to battle UMass before returning home to take on Rhode Island on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. in their home opener.

Stony Brook (1-2-0, 0-0-0 America East) went 1-1 on the week, defeating Iona 1-0 on Thursday afternoon before falling to Big East foe Providence on Sunday afternoon, 2-0 ... The victory over Iona was the Seawolves 8th straight win over the Gaels ... Allenberg’s goal was the sixth of her career and her fourth game-winner ... Junior goalkeeper Marisa Viola’s shutout on Thursday was the 17th of her career and moved her to second on the program’s all-time shutout list ... Viola made a season-high eight saves in Sunday’s loss to Providence ... The Seawolves will hit the road to take on Manhattan for the first time since 1995 on Thursday ... Stony Brook played to a scoreless tie with Manhattan last season at LaValle Stadium ...  SBU will host Fordham on Sunday ... The Seawolves lost 3-2 in overtime in their last meeting with the Rams on Sept. 17, 2006 ... Stony Brook’s last victory over Fordham came in the 1998 season, a 4-0 win.

Vermont (1-2-0, 0-0-0 America East)went 1-1 on the week at its own TD Banknorth Classic ... Freshman Emily Perrin (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) scored the game-winning goal in her first career in the 68th minute to lift Vermont past Central Connecticut, 2-1, in the first day of the tournament ... It was Perrin’s first career goal at Vermont ... Sophomore Gabby Bonfigli also scored in the contest and all three of Bonfigli’s career goals have come at Centennial Field ... UVM played well for 75 minutes, but Villanova scored three goals in the final 13 minutes of the game to post a 3-0 victory over the Catamounts in the second day of the tournament ... The Wildcats won the TD Banknorth Classic after posting a 2-1 win over New Hampshire the day before and are the ninth different team to win the title in the nine-year history of the TD Banknorth Classic ... Junior goalkeeper Eliza Bradley (Charlotte, Vt.) was named the Defensive MVP of the tournament as the goalkeeper with the most saves (11 total) ... Joining Bradley on the all-tournament team were Kaitlin Francis (Hinesburg, Vt.), Rachel Andres (Honeoye, N.Y.) and Perrin ... Vermont makes its first-ever trip to Bloomington, Ind. to compete in the Hoosier Classic at Indiana University this weekend (Sept. 5-7) ... UVM takes on the hosts, Indiana at 7:30 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 5) and then faces Wisconsin on Sunday (Sept. 7).
