Twelve Athletes, Three Teams Earn Track And Field Academic All American Status

CAMBRIDGE, Mass- Twelve student athletes representing four separate universities in America East have been named to the 2008 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track and Field team.

The female recipients?Laura Cummings, Arina Gerasimova and Jennifer Gurrant of the University at Albany; Rita Ciambra of the University of New Hampshire; Corinne DiPietro and Carmen Lagala of the University of Vermont; and Dana Hastie, Holly Van Dalen and Lucy Van Dalen of Stony Brook University?were all also named to the America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Valete Graham of the University at Albany; and Alex Felce and Tim Hodge of Stony Brook University were recognized as male All-Academic recipients and named to the America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll.

In addition, Stony Brook University, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Vermont were recognized as female Division I All-Academic Track and Field teams for their overall finish at the national championships and cumulative team GPA.

The University of Vermont men’s Track and Field program also received All-Academic team distinction

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
