VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton junior forward Cameron Keith
(Aberdeenshire, Scotland) has been named to the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann
Trophy watch list for the upcoming men's soccer season. He is one of 48 Division
I players in the nation, as well as the first-ever player from Binghamton, to be
selected for the list.
Considered the highest individual honor in
intercollegiate soccer, the recipients of the MAC's Hermann Trophy are selected
by Division I head coaches who are current members of the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America. A list of 15 semifinalists is selected by a
coaches committee in November, with three finalists announced in early December.
They will invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo., for a news
conference on Jan. 9, 2009, where the winner will be announced, with a
presentation banquet following.
Keith was named the 2007 America East
Conference Striker of the Year and earned first-team NSCAA All-Region honors. He
scored a conference best 10 goals last season and ranked 18th among all Division
I players with 0.63 goals per game.
Binghamton, the two-time defending
America East regular season champions, opens up its 2008 campaign against
Duquesne on Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. at the West Virginia Tournament. The Bearcats
finished 14-6-0 last season.
