CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Collegiate Baseball announced the 2008 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-Americans on Wednesday, including Stony Brook's Chad Marshall and Vermont's Matt Duffy. Marshall was one of five rookie second basemen selected, while Duffy was among 12 shortstops honored.

Marshall made 54 starts at second base for the Seawolves last season, hitting .285 with 27 RBI while ranking third on the team with 57 hits. A second team All-America East selection, he finished the year as the 19th toughest batter in the nation to strike out.

A member of the America East All-Rookie Team, Duffy hit .308 this spring, third on the team, and led conference freshmen with 33 runs batted in and a team-high 18 doubles, tying for the second most in a single-season at Vermont. He also tied for second on the Cats in hits with 61, tying for seventh in a season. One of two Catamounts to play in all 51 games in 2008, Duffy started each contest at shortstop. He pitched in relief in five games recording two saves while posting a 2.70 ERA.
