DES MOINES, Iowa-- Three America East athletes earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Des Moines, Iowa which wrapped up on Saturday, June 14. Seniors Marisa Ryan and Tahari James of Boston University followed up their All-America accolades in Indoor Track and Field by earning the same status in the Outdoor season. Sophomore Luke Schoen of Albany was also named an All-American.

Ryan closed her collegiate career by finishing fourth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 33:54.38. James finished ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 43-7 ? (13.30 meters) in the finals. Her jump of 44-10 ? (13.68 meters) in the preliminaries set a school record and qualified her for the Olympic trials.

Schoen was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 17-2 ?. Only one athlete posted a better mark than Schoen in the championship, with strong, swirling winds a factor for all competitors.

Boston University’s Andrea Walkonen and Stony Brook’s Dana Hastie joined Ryan in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Championships. Walkonen finished 13th in 34:54.32 while Hastie was 15th in 35:19.73.

Rita Ciambra of New Hampshire qualified and participated in the women’s pole vault earlier in the week.
