CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Stony Brook's Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster) and Albany's Brian Caufield (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) have been named America East Men's Lacrosse Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, after leading their teams to key conference wins over the weekend. The awards for the week ending April 20 were announced on April 22.
Crowley, a freshman attack, scored three goals in the Seawolves' 7-6 -overtime win over Binghamton on Saturday. The win guaranteed Stony Brook a berth in the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship, which will take place in Baltimore, Md. on May 1-3. Crowley, who found the back of the net 15 seconds into the extra session for the game-winner, ranks second in America East with 44 points this season.
Caufield, a freshman attack, scored eight goals in a pair of games last week, including five in a 13-3 win over Vermont on Saturday. The victory clinched a spot for Albany in the championship field. Caufield, who scored three of the Great Danes' five goals in a loss at top-ranked Syracuse on Friday, ranks third in America East in points per game (3.30) and goals per game (2.20) and is fifth in assists per game (1.10).

Binghamton (3-7, 1-3 America East) played in it first-ever home televised game this past Saturday against Stony Brook. The game was aired on MSG Plus and was also the first-ever event televised from the Bearcats Sports Complex ... sophomore attack Andy Cook (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) has eight goals and an assist in his past four games. He has recorded a pair of hat tricks during that span, including a three-goal effort in the game against the Seawolves.
Hartford (0-12 overall, 0-4 America East) dropped a 16-5 decision at sixth-ranked UMBC last week in its only action. The Hawks were led by junior Jacob Eustice (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park), who scored a pair of goals and also added an assist... With one regular season game remaining, the Hawks are still in the running for the final berth in the upcoming America East Championship. To qualify for the conference tournament, Hartford would need both a win over Binghamton (by four goals or more) and a UMBC victory over Vermont... Hartford and Binghamton will meet on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at Al-Marzook Field. Prior to the game, the Hawks will honor their six seniors in a special ceremony.
UMBC (9-3, 4-0 America East) won its eighth straight game and clinched home field advantage in the upcoming America East Championships with a 16-5 victory over Hartford before 1,174 fans on “Senior Day” at UMBC Stadium on Saturday... The Retrievers clinched at least a share of the regular season title and with prior wins over Albany and Stony Brook would win a tie-breaker with either team... The Retrievers have won or shared the regular season title in each of the past four seasons (2005-2008)... Last week’s No. 6 USILA ranking was the highest in program history... On three occasions (1999, 2003, 2008), UMBC had been ranked as high as No. 9... Latham and Stockton scored two times each in the flurry...Kimener tied Drew Westervelt for UMBC’s school record by competing in his 61st game vs. the Hawks... Stony Brook’s win at Binghamton clinched a spot in the America East Tournament in May ... the Seawolves have made the tournament every season since joining the league ... the 2008 appearance will be the eighth straight for SBU ...
