CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Albany junior third baseman Meagan Butsch (Tomball, Tex./Tomball) was named the ECAC Division I Softball Player of the Week as announced by the league late Thursday night. Butsch, receiving the award for the week ending April 13, was also tabbed the America East Softball Player of the Week on Monday for the same period.
Butsch
recorded a .500 average to lead Albany to a 6-1 week, including six
straight wins. The junior third baseman scored eight runs on 11 hits,
including three home runs, three doubles and one triple for a 1.136
slugging %. Butsch also drove in seven runs while striking out just
once in 22 at bats. She went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 9-4 win
at UMBC on Monday, and went 2-for-3 with one run scored in a close 3-2
victory over Vermont on Wednesday. Butsch is second on the team with a
.356 average on the season and has scored 18 runs off 32 hits.
Butsch leads America East in triples on the year, four, and is among the league leaders is several other batting categories.
