BOSTON ? Carolyn Swords and Brittanny Johnson scored 20 points
each to lead the Boston College Eagles to a 76-64 win over Vermont in the

“I’m very proud of our effort,” said Vermont head coach Sharon
Dawley. “We’ve had a great season, certainly we are disappointed it
ended, but we’ve had a great ride.”
“I think we proved we could play with BC. I don’t think were
out-manned, maybe undersized, but I was pleased with our effort. We just
didn’t make shots when we needed to tonight.”
Boston College held a five point lead with 8:29 remaining in the first
half, but a quick 6-0 spurt by Vermont pushed the Catamounts in front by
one with 7:18 left. But the Eagles quickly countered and closed the half

UVM opened the second half with a 12-6, capped by a three-pointer by
Courtnay Pilypaitis (Ottawa, Ontario) to knot the game up 41-41.
BC’s Ayla Brown answered with a three-pointer and the Eagles scored
eight straight points to push their lead to eight 49-41 with 13:22 left in
the game. Vermont trimmed the lead to four, but the Eagles held the
Catamounts without a field goal for eight-and-a-half-minutes, to build a
14-point advantage and post the victory.
Pilypaitis led all scorers with 21 points, including a 5-for-7 effort
from three-point range, and added six rebounds and four assists. Freshman
Tonya Young (Canaan, N.H.) added 14 points and went three-for-five
from long range.
The Catamounts shot 41.5 percent from the floor and 50 percent from
three-point range for the game. BC shot 53.8 percent from the field and
went 8-for-12 from long range.
Vermont closes its season with a record of 24-9 and a record of 3-2 in
