CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Stony Brook's Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and Melissa Cook (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) have been named America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, in women's lacrosse after leading the Seawolves to a pair of wins last week. New Hampshire's Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln Sudbury) has earned Defender of the Week honors for the week ending March 16.
Leggio, a junior midfielder, totaled 13 points in wins over Sacred Heart and Monmouth last week. She scored twice and added three assists in an 18-11 win over the Pioneers on Wednesday and tallied five scores and two assists against the Blue Hawks on Sunday. Leggio also added six ground balls and five caused turnovers for the week.
Cook, a freshman attack, scored four goals, picked up three ground balls and caused three turnovers against Monmouth on Saturday. She also scored four goals against Sacred Heart on Wednesday.
Milley, a senior goalkeeper, stopped 60 percent of the shots she faced and allowed just 12 goals in two games. Milley, who also earned Defender of the Week honors last week, made a season-high 12 saves in a win over No. 10 Vanderbilt on Saturday. She also had six stops and four ground balls in a win over Harvard on Wednesday.

Senior Diana Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and freshman Samantha Djaha (East Islip, N.Y.) both scored hat tricks against Sacred Heart. On Sunday, Stony Brook scored 18 goals for the third time this season, this time defeating Monmouth 18-9. Vermont (4-1. 1-0 America East) matched its best start under head coach Jen Johnson, with a 2-1 week ... The Catamounts fell at No. 5 Duke (20-6), but bounced back with victories over Davidson (15-10) and LeMoyne (15-11) ... Junior Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario/Sinclair Secondary) tallied seven goals, seven ground balls and 15 draw controls, while also going 4-for-5 on free position shots on the week ... Sophomore Sara Buxton (Northfield, Ill/New Trier) also tallied seven goals and was a perfect 4-for-4 in 8m shots ... Millar and Buxton combined for eight goals in UVM’s win over LeMoyne ... Junior Tori Wasson (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) scored a career-high six goals in the win over Davidson to lead the Cats past the Wildcats ... Millar continues to climb the charts in the Vermont record book, moving into third place all-time in points (140), sixth place all-time in goals (88), and increased her all-time leading mark in assists to 52. Millar also jumped to second among the NCAA’s all-time leaders in draw controls and now has 207 in her career in 37 games ...
