CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- New Hampshire’s Moira Talbot (Marblehead, Mass./Governor Dummer) and Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass./Reading) have been named the America East Women’s Lacrosse Player and Defender of the Week, respectively, while Binghamton’s Ali Castiglie (Middle Island, N.Y./Longwood) earned Rookie of the Week honros. The awards, the first of the 2008 season, were announced on Monday, February 25. Click here for the release in PDF format.
Talbot, a senior attack, scored three goals and recorded her 100th career point in the Wildcats’ 8-7 loss at Hofstra on Saturday. With her team trailing 8-5 in the second half, Talbot found the back of the net twice to pull her team within one.
Hardy a junior midfielder, led a defense that allowed only eight goals against the Pride on Saturday. The eight goals are the fewest allowed in a non-conference game since UNH held Brown to seven scored on March 18, 2007. Hardy led the way with three ground balls, three caused turnovers and also scored a goal.
Castiglie, a freshman attack, tallied a game-high four points on three goals and an assist in Binghamton’s 12-11 come-from-behind win over Colgate on Friday. She also had a goal and two assists in the Bearcats’ season opener against Williams and Mary on February 17.
