Stony Brook Sweeps First Men's Lacrosse Weekly Awards of 2008

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Stony Brook’s Ryan Hughes (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) and Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, British Columbia) have earned the first America East Men’s Lacrosse Player and Rookie of the Week honors of 2008, respectively. Hughes tied his career high with five points, scoring four goals and added one assists against third-ranked Virginia on Saturday. Hughes, who ranked third among Seawolves with 23 points and 15 goals a year ago, led his team back from a seven-goal deficit against the Cavaliers. His extra-man score with 10 minutes left tied the game 13, before UVA scored twice to edge out a 15-13 victory.

In his collegiate debut, Crowley had a team-high seven points on three goals and four assists. Crowley also led Stony Brook with seven ground balls and won 10-of-23 face offs
