BOSTON -- The University at Albany men and the Boston University women take home the conference titles at the 2008 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. The Great Danes capture their fifth title in the last six years, while the Terriers win their tenth title.

On the men's side Albany amassed 186 points to win the title, while Binghamton came in second with 142 points and New Hampshire finished third with 130.5 points. Fourth place went to UMBC(93.5), fifth to Boston (88) and sixth place to Stony Brook (59). Vermont, Maine, and Hartford rounded out the nine-team field with 36, 28, and 16 points respectively.
Boston U. women captured the win with 206.833 points, while second place went to New Hampshire (141.33), and Albany earned third with 114.5 points. UMBC and Stony Brook tied for fourth with 72 points, while Maine came in fifth with 54 points. Binghamton took seventh with 51 points, followed by eighth place Vermont(45.3333) and ninth place Hartford (22).
Albany's Dieuseul Joseph won the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.48. In one of the most exciting races of the day, the 200-meter dash, Binghamton's Cazal Arnett won in a time of 21.72 just beating out Albany's Pat Weider by .01 seconds. Arnett also won the 400-meter in a time of 47.80. In the 500-meter event fellow Bearcat Christian Smith earned a victory with a time of 1:04.72. New Hampshire's Robert Edgerton won the 1-mile event in a blazing time of 4:05.07. Edgerton also won the 1000-meter event in a time of 2:27.43 Albany's Joe Belokopitsky took the 800-meter event in a time of 1:54.05. Stony Brook's Tim Hodge won the 3000-meter with an 8:13.62. Albany's Jean Juste won the 55-meter hurdles in a 7.43 seconds setting a new conference record. New Hampshire's 4x400-meter relay team of Gabreal Dano, William Brehm, Mathew Begley, and Travis Parker won in a time of 3:15.85. In the 4x800-meter relay, UMBC's team of Josh Okoniewski, Chris Snyder, Michael Christmas, and Chris Hart won in a time of 7:47.97 seconds. Maine's Jeffrey Ramos earned a first-place in the high-jump with a height of 2.02m. Albany's Michael McCadney was a highlight of the day in the triple jump event earning a 15.41-meter jump while setting a new conference record and earning a NCAA Provisional cut. Boston's Jan Bicanic won the shot put with a distance of 16.37-meters. In the men's heptathlon, Albany's David Parker came out on top amassing 5,262 points while also setting a new conference record.
On the women's side Boston's Whitney Ford won with a time of 7.12 seconds. Maine's Allyson Howatt earned a first-place with a time of 24.60 in the 200-meter event. Maine's Vicki Tolton won the 400-meter dash in a 57.18, while New Hampshire's Kaitlin Kwiecien won the 500-meter dash in 1:15.40. In a close race to the finish, Boston's Marisa Ryan won the 1-mile event with a time of 4:45.65. She then came back to win the 3000-meters in a 9:43.29. Vermont's Carmen Lagala took the 800-meter event with a 2:11.08. New Hampshire's Becky Haley won the 1000-meter run in a 2:51.22. Albany's Kamilah McShine won the 55-meter hurdles in an 8.06. Winning the 4x400-meter relay was Maine's team of Vicki Tolton, Lital Pilosof, Lindsay Burlock, and Allyson Howatt in a time of 3:50.82. Boston University's team of Emma Reed, Kat Warden, Katie Weider, and Anne Wighton won the 4x800 with a time of 9:07.48. Jumping 5-06.00 was Boston's Karly Neveu for the win in the high jump. In the triple jump, Boston's Tahari James won the event with a distance of 12.98-meters, also setting a new conference record and earning a NCAA Provisional cut. In the shot put, UMBC's Ashley Fauntleroy won the event with a distance of 13.33-meters.
Women's Coaching Staff of the Year was Boston University, while Women's Most Outstanding Rookie went to New Hampshire's Kaitlin Kwiecien. Boston University's distance runner, Marisa Ryan won Women's Most Outstanding Track Performer. UMBC's Ashley Fauntleroy earned Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer after finishing first in both her events. The Coaches' Award for the Most Points Compiled by a Female Athlete was Whitney Ford with 36 points from New Hampshire.
