Parker, Lee, Quiller, and Lathrop Earn Final Weekly Honors for Indoor Track and Field Season

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--University of New Hampshire's Travis Parker and University at Albany's Melissa Lee earned weekly honors as America East Men's and Women's Track Performers of the Week, while Binghamton University's Rory Quiller and University of New Hampshire's Ashlee Lathrop received America East Field Performers of the Week. The conference made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon for the week ending February 18.

Senior Parker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) grabbed two of his team's four first-place finishes at the Dartmouth Indoor Invitational on February 16. Parker finished first in both the 200 and 400-meters, finishing in times of 22.40 seconds and 49.96 seconds, respectively.

Junior Lee (Brooklyn, N.y./F.H. LaGuardia) won the 400-meter dash in 59.42 seconds to lead the Great Danes to a second-place finish in a tri-meet with Binghamton and Syracuse on Friday, February 15 at the Binghamton University Events Center in Vestal, N.Y. Also placed second as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team which finished in a time of 4:00.51.

Graduate student Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) set a school record, highlighting the Binghamton track & field teams' sweep over Albany and Syracuse in a tri-meet on Friday evening at the Events Center. A two-time All-American, Quiller entered the pole vault competition, which was the final event of the night, with the bar at 17-4m. With all of the other participants having been eliminated, Quiller cleared that height on his first attempt and had the bar raised to 18-1 1/4m. Prior to the tri-meet, Quiller's lifetime best was 18-1m, which he recorded last May in winning the NCAA East Regional Outdoor Championship.

Sophomore Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y./Sherburne-Earlville) won the weight throw at the Dartmouth Indoor Invitational on February 16, with a toss of 16.06 meters or 52-8.25m.

Team Results:

Albany

UAlbany’s Freddie Wills won the long jump in setting the school record to lead the Great Danes to a second-place finish in a three-way meet with Syracuse and Binghamton at the Events Center. In the women’s competition, freshman Kadine Johnson won both throwing events with tosses of 43-feet, 4.50-inches in the shot put and 50-feet, 8.25-inches in the weight throw. [Albany Story]

Binghamton

The men's team finished with 137 points, compared to 132 for Albany and 60 for Syracuse. On the women's side, the Bearcats posted 119 points, Albany had 116 and Syracuse finished with 109 points. [Binghamton Story]

Boston U
The Terriers return to action February 22 and 23 at the America East Championships being held at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Hartford

The University of Hartford men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in their final warm-ups prior to the America East Championships. The Hawks final tune up came at the Lafayette/Ride Invitational at the NY Armory in New York City. The women’s team was led by Ariana Bass who picked up the only individual top-10 finish. On the men’s side, the Hawks were led by three top-10 finishes, two on the field side and Warren Lane on the track side. [Hartford Story]

Maine
The Blackbears return to action February 22 and 23 at the America East Championships being held at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

UMBC

Junior Alex Hyland (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South/St. Francis (Pa.)) set a school record for the third time this season as she finished fourth in the 5000-meter run on Friday at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory Track in New York. [UMBC Story]

Sophomore David Hanss (Ann Arbor, Mich.) set a new school record in the 60m-Hurdles and newcomer Aaron Campbell (Bend, Ore.) tied his own record in the 60m to lead the University of Vermont men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams at a meet with Dartmouth, New Hampshire, Brown and Quinnipiac on Saturday.
