Nearly 15,000 Fans Attend Saturday's Men's Basketball Action

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Two sellouts, a season-high gate and a record-setting crowd highlighted Saturday's men's basketball action, as nearly 15,000 fans packed the stands at four venues to watch conference action.

UMBC defeated Vermont 75-73 in front of a sellout crowd of 3,266 fans at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, Vt. Junior guard Jay Greene scored a career-high 26 points and canned all five of his three-point attempts for the Retrievers, who took over sole possession of first place in the league standings with the win. Junior Darryl Proctor recorded his league-best eighth double-double of the year with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Ray Barbosa scored 18 of his 21 in the second half. UVM sophomore Marqus Blakely tallied his third straight double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Mike Trimboli added 15 points and seven assists for the Catamounts, who had their five-game winning streak snapped.

Albany downed Stony Brook 64-46 before a capacity crowd of 4,538 at SEFCU Arena on Big Purple Growl, the University’s Winter Homecoming. Junior Brian Connelly scored a game-high 16 points for the Great Danes. Senior Brian Lillis, the team leader in points, rebounds and assists per game, recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Jon Iati added 11 off the bench. Senior Ricky Lucas led the Seawolves with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Hartford spoiled Binghamton's first home game in 10 days, as 4,902 fans, an Events Center regular-season record, saw the Hawks knock off the Bearcats, 71-62. Sophomore Joe Zeglinski poured in a game-high 22 points for the Hawks, who earned just their second road win of the season to snap Binghamton's five-game win streak. Freshman Morgan Sabia, the league's Rookie of the Week, scored 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point territory. Sophomore Lazar Trifunovic led Binghamton with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Richard Forbes added 12 points off the bench.

*Boston University earned its second straight win, defeating New Hampshire 67-52 in front of a season-high 1.852 fans at Lundholm Gym. The Terriers' Corey Lowe scored a game-high 23 points in his second game back from injury. Sophomore Scott Brittain added a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Carlos Strong contributed 10 points and six rebounds. Senior Mike Christensen led UNH with 16 points. Tyrece Gibbs added 10.
