Men's Basketball: City Rivalries Highlight Wednesday's Action

Every gameday throughout the 2008-09 season, America East will provide a men's basketball update that features notes on that day's matchups as well as recaps of the previous day's action.

Wednesday, December 3
New Hampshire at Colgate, 7 p.m.
The Wildcats hope to snap a three-game losing skid when they face the Red Raiders... Colgate downed UNH 49-46 in last year's meeting, but the Wildcats lead the all-time series 16-11.

Towson at UMBC, 7 p.m. (MASN)
These crosstown-rivals meet for the 51st time after not playing last season... The Retrievers have won nine of the last 10 get togethers... Darryl Proctor and Jay Greene are the second-highest scoring duo in America East, averaging a combined 32.7 points per game... The game will be aired throughoutMid-Atlantic region on MASN.

Boston University at Harvard, 8 p.m.
The Terriers have taken seven straight from their crosstown-rivals... Corey Lowe had a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds in last year's 79-72 Boston U. victory... Jake O'Brien earned Rookie of the Week accolades after averaging 16.0 points and leading the Terriers to a win over Northeastern with 21 second-half points.

Thursday, December 4
Lafayette at Hartford, 7 p.m.
The Hawks are in search for their second win in their last three outings... Hartford leads America East with 67 made 3-pointers, 17 more than any other team.

Maine Presque-Isle at Maine, 7 p.m.
The Black Bears face state university foe Maine Preque-Isle for just the second time and the first time since the 1997-98 season.

The Seawolves won consecutive games for the first time in a year with a 60-39 win over the Highlanders... Freshman Bryan Dougher scored 18 of his career-high 24 points in the first half... Muhammad El-Amin added 13.

at Vermont 88, Dartmouth 71
The Catamounts downed the Big Green with an efficient offensive performance, shooting an America East season-high 59.3 percent and dishing out 23 assists on 32 baskets... Marqus Blakely led the charge with 27 points and 11 rebounds... Mike Trimboli had 23 points and nine rebounds, while freshman Garvey Young tallied a career-high 19 points.

Monday, December 1
at Albany 57, Bryant 47

Anthony Raffa posted game-highs of 17 points and five assists, while adding a team-high 6 rebounds to lead Albany to its fifth straight win.. Brian Connelly contributed 13 points... Tim Ambrose added 11 on 3-of-4 shooting from the floor.

Binghamton 74, at Central Connecticut 58
Binghamton used a 22-9 second-half run and scored 15 second-chance points in the final stanza... D.J. Rivera and Dwayne Jackson (15 in second half) led the way with 17 points each... Reggie Fuller added 12, while Malik Alvin had 11.
