Women's Basketball: Two TV Games Highlight Wednesday's Schedule

Every gameday throughout the 2008-09 season, America East will provide a women's basketball update that features notes on that day's matchups as well as recaps of the previous day's action.

Upcoming Action

Wednesday, December 3
Navy at UMBC (MASN)    4:30 p.m.

The Retrievers have scored a league-best 79.3 points per game this season... Three UMBC players are among America East's top seven scorers (Carlee Cassidy, Katie Brooks, Michelle Kurowski).

Albany at Army    7 p.m.
The Great Danes travel to West Point for their fourth game in eight days... After picking up its first win of the season Monday, Albany is in search of their first back-to-back wins since last February.

Brown at Boston U.    7 p.m.
The Terriers put their 14-game unbeaten streak at Case Gym on the line against the Bears... Boston U. defeated Brown last season, 59-38... Senior Kristi Dini is 13th in the country averaging 3.3 three-pointers per game.

Robert Morris at Maine    7 p.m.
Junior Kristin Baker is having a breakout year, averaging 4.8 assists, 6.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in five starts... The Black Bears have a chance to pick up their first win at Alfond Arena this season against the Colonials.

Stony Brook at Sacred Heart    7 p.m.

The Seawolves end a five-game road trip with the Pioneers... Junior forward Sarah Kazadi is second in the conference with 1.8 blocks per game.

New Hampshire at Harvard    7 p.m.
The Wildcats fell to the Crimson by six points last year, 53-59... Junior Candace Williams is tied for second in the league with 16.0 points per game and third with 7.5 boards per game.

Hartford at Quinnipiac (NESN)    8 p.m.
The Hawks will be playing their first of back-to-back televised games...  Hartford has the best turnover margin in America East (+4.4), forcing 21.9 turnovers per game.

Binghamton 83, at Niagara 65 (LCTV)    

Junior guard Erica Carter scored 12 of the Bearcats' first 15 points of the game, 17 in the first half, and 20 for the game... Freshman Andrea Holmes (16 points), junior Muffy Sadler (13) and junior Darryll Peterson (13) also finished with double-figure points.

at Albany 62, Detroit-Mercy 49

Sophomore Janea Aiken's game-high 19 points helped the Great Danes to their first win of the season... Aiken hit a career-high five treys, including four in the second half... Junior Charity Iromuanya recorded 11 boards and dished out six assists to go along with her eight points.

Central Michigan 84, Boston U. 72 (Buckeye Classic)    

Senior guard Amarachi Umez-Eronini posted her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 boards, also adding three assists and two steals... Classmate Jesyka Burks-Wiley scored a team-high 20 points.

UMBC 92, Maryland-Eastern Shore 70 (Iona Thanksgiving Classic)    
The Retrievers scored a conference-high 92 points, the first time the program has done so since 1993... UMBC shot 70% in the first half... Freshman Erin Brown notched a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, the first double-double by a Retriever since February 2007.

at St. John's 70, Vermont 58    
Junior guard Courtnay Pilypaitis finished the game with her third double-double of the season, scoring a team-high 19 points and recording 11 rebounds... Junior May Kotsopoulos netted 15 points while chipping in three assists and three steals.
