Men's Basketball: Four Teams Take Floor Before Three-Day Break

Every gameday throughout the 2008-09 season, America East will provide a men's basketball update that features notes on that day's matchups as well as recaps of the previous day's action.

Tuesday, December 23
Maine at Boston College, 1 p.m.

These two New England rivals meet for the first time since the 2004-05 season in a matinee at Conte Forum... The Black Bears are 4-14 all-time against the Eagles... Gerald McLemore leads all conference rookies in scoring (12.5 ppg)... Also ranks fourth in 3-point percentage (.421).

Rider at Binghamton, 7 p.m.
The Bearcats try to snap a two-game losing streak overall and a two-game skid against the Broncs... The Bearcats are once again leading the league in home attendance, average 3,194 fans per game at the Events Center this season... D.J. Rivera continues to lead America East in scoring at 20.6 points per game.

New Hampshire at Fordham, 7 p.m.

The Wildcats travel to the Bronx to take on the Rams following a nine-day layoff... Senior Tyrece Gibbs scored his 1,000th career point UNH's last game, a 76-72 loss at LIU on Dec. 13... Gibbs ranks ninth in scoring at 14.0 points per game and third in 3-point percentage (.453) a .046 percentage increase from a year ago.

UMBC at Nebraska, 8 p.m.
The Retrievers take on the Cornhuskers in their first game against a Big XII opponent since facing Texas A&M during the 1995-96 campaign... Darryl Proctor and Jay Greene rank first and second, respectively, in America East in minutes per game... Proctor ranks third in scoring (17.9 ppg) and second in rebounding (8.7), while Greene is 11th in scoring (13.2 ppg) and leads the league in assists (6.5 apg).

Albany 68, at St. Francis (N.Y.) 56
The Great Danes opened the second half on a 15-2 run to earn their second straight road win... Anthony Raffa scored 15 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead UA... Brian Connelly and Will Harris each had 13... Albany's 8-4 start is the program's best through 12 games in 10 seasons at the Division I level.
 
at #21/22 Baylor 74, Hartford 59 (FSN Southwest/CTSN)
The Hawks were within five with 4:27 to play, but were held without a field goal the rest of the way by the Bears, who closed the game on an 11-1 spurt... Waco native Jaret von Rosenberg scored a game-high 19 points, pulled down a career-best nine boards and dished out six assists.

Sunday, December 21
Vermont 84, at Quinnipiac 79 (NESN)
The Catamounts built a 15-point halftime advantage and held off a late surge from the Bobcats despite 25 turnovers... America East Player of the Week Mike Trimboli scored 24 points on perferct 7-of-7 shooting from the floor... He also had six rebounds and five assists... Marqus Blakely added 17 points, six rebounds and five blocks.

Delaware 80, at Boston University 78 (CN8)
D.J. Boney hit a 3-pointer from the right corner with 4.1 seconds remaining to win it... Corey Lowe tied a game-high 20 points for the Terriers... Matt Wolff added a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds... Jake O'Brien added 14 points and seven boards.

Harvard 76, at Maine 63
The Crimson closed the game on a 20-9 run en route to the win... Gerald McLemore led the Black Bears and tied a game-high with 18 points and pulled down six rebounds... Troy Barnies added 17 points and nine rebounds... Sean McNally recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards.

Saturday, December 20
Albany 60, Sacred Heart 59
Michael Johnson's free throw with nine seconds remaining gave the Great Danes their first lead since late in the first half and Anthony Raffa's steal sealed the outcome... Raffa led Albany with 15 points and eight rebounds...  Brian Connelly added 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.

American 74, at UMBC 61 (MASN)
Garrison Carr scored a career-high 34 points and the Eagles built a 22-point halftime advantage that the Retrievers could not overcome... Darryl Proctor recorded a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds for UMBC... Jay Greene added 16 points and five assists.

Manhattan 86, at Binghamton 80
The Jaspers got 38 points from their bench, including 29 from Darryl Crawford en route to the win... America East leading scorer D.J. Rivera scored 23 points... Dwayne Jackson added 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
