KANSAS CITY, Mo. - University at Albany's Steward Ceus, the America East Goalkeeper of the Year, was named to the NSCAA/adidas Division I All-America Team, the coaches' association announced on Friday. Additionally, 11 players, including Ceus, earned All-Northeast Region honors, the most selections since the 2004 season.
Ceus, a senior from West Haverstraw, N.Y., led Albany to a 12-4-2 mark, which tied the program's Division I record for wins in a season. He ranked among the nation's best with 5.93 saves per game and eighth in save percentage (.856). Ceus was one of seven goalkeepers invited to the 2009 MLS Player Combine, which will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. January 9-13.
Ceus was joined on the All-Northeast Region first team by Boston University's Dan Schultz, who led the Terriers to America East title and the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.
Albany's Claudo Dantas, 'Binghamton University's Barry Neville, Boston University's Michael Bustamante and University of Vermont's Connor Tobin were second-team selections. Erik DiLorenzo from Albany, Cameron Keith from Binghamton, Shaun Taylor from Boston U., Carlos Villa from University of Hartford and Kyle Urso from University of New Hampshire were all third-team choices.
