Every gameday throughout the 2008-09 season, America East will provide a men's basketball update that features notes on that day's matchups as well as recaps of the previous day's action.

 

Upcoming Action

Saturday, November 29
Loyola at Vermont, 1 p.m.
The Catamounts face the Greyhounds for the second straight year... Marqus Blakely scored a career-high 30 points in the first-ever meeting between the two teams, an 83-79 Loyola victory last November 18.

Hartford vs Niagara, 2 p.m. (Philly Classic)
The Hawks take on the Purple Eagles in the title game of the Liberty bracket in the Philly Hoop Group Classic at the famed Palestra... Hartford downed New Jersey Tech to reach the final, while Niagara beat Monmouth.

Stony Brook at Columbia, 2 p.m.
The Seawolves, who lead America East holding opponents to an average of 61.2 points per game, face a team that scores just 57.2 per game... SBU's Tommy Brenton has had a strong start to his collegiate career as he is averaging 10.5 points and a league-best 11.3 rebounds.

Utah Valley at Binghamton, 2 p.m.
The two teams meet for the first time in Vestal... Binghamton will make a return trip to Orem, Utah on Jan. 10... Bearcat guard D.J. Rivera leads America East with 20.3 points per game... The Wolverines are off to a 4-0 start.

Toledo at UMBC, 2:05 p.m.
Darryl Proctor (19.4 ppg, 9.4 rpg) and Jay Greene (14.3 ppg, 7.8 apg) lead the Retrievers up against the Rockets... UMBC leads America East with a +8.6 scoring margin, averaging 71.4 points per game, while allowing just 62.8.

Maine vs Tulane, 5 p.m. (USA Basketball Classic)
The Black Bears look to snap a three-game losing skid when they face the Green Wave in the consolation game of the USA Basketball Classic in Mobile, Ala... Maine's Mark Socoby matched an America East season-high (Binghamton's D.J. Rivera) with 28 points in the first round.

Boston University at Mount St. Mary's, 7 p.m.
The favorites of the America East and Northeast conferences collide in Newburgh, N.Y... The Terriers' Corey Lowe is averaging 21 points and five assists during his team's current three-game win streak.

Penn at Albany, 7 p.m.
The Great Danes look for their fourth straight win when they take on the Quakers for the first time ever... America East Co-Player of the Week Tim Ambrose has scored in twin figures in three straight games for the first time in his career and is averaging 20.3 points and 5.3 boards during that span.

New Hampshire at Marist, 7:30 p.m.
The Wildcats are in search of their first win in their last three games... New Hampshire's Eric Gilchrese has connected on 10-of-16 three-point tries this season (.625)... Marist is 1-3 on the season, with its lone win coming against Robert Morris on Nov. 22.

Hartford 50, New Jersey Tech 38 (Philly Classic)
Behind a game-high 17 points from Joe Zeglinski, Hartford posted a victory over New Jersey Tech in the Liberty bracket of the Philly Hoop Group Classic at the famed Palestra in Philadelphia.

at South Alabama 71, Maine 59 (USA Basketball Classic)
The host Jaguars shot 57 percent in the first half, while holding the Black Bears to just six field goals in the frame at the USA Basketball Classic... Maine's Mark Socoby scored a game-high 28 points and made six 3-pointers.

Wednesday, November 26
at George Washington 70, UMBC  64

Damian Hollis scored 13 points, including a key put back off a missed free throw with 19.1 seconds left to increase the Colonials lead to five and seal the outcome... Darryl Proctor had a game-high 17 points and a team-high nine rebounds for UMBC... Jay Greene scored 11 points, handed out nine assists and committed just one turnover.

Tuesday, November 25
Albany 66, at Columbia 49

The Great Danes clamped down defensively, holding the Lions to 33 percent shooting and outrebounding their opponet 42-26 en route to their third straight win... Jerel Hastings led a balanced attack with a season-high 15 points off the bench in a ... America East Co-Player of the Week added 13... Brian Connelly had 11 points and seven boards.

Boston University 83, at Northeastern 75 (NESN)
The Terriers shot 55 percent from the floor and canned 15 three's to earn their third straight win... Corey Lowe scored 23 of his 27 in the first half and dished out six assists... Jake O'Brien tallied 14 of his 21 of points in the second half a shot 7-of-9 overall and 5-of-7 from deep... John Holland added 17.

Vermont 78, at Delaware 63
Colin McIntosh scored a career-high 25 points and Vermont used a 23-4 spurt in the second half to pull away from Delaware on the way to the convincing win... Marqus Blakely added a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds... Mike Trimboli contributed all around with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

American 56, at Stony Brook 53
Nick Hendra scored a game-high 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting lead the Eagles to the win... Two-time America East Rookie of the Week Tommy Brenton recorded his third straight double-double to start the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

at Central Connecticut 76, Binghamton 51
The Blue Demons shot 53 percent from the field and held the Bearcats to a 29 percent clip on way to the win... D.J. Rivera led Binghamton with 13 points... Reggie Fuller had his first double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 boards.

Quinnipiac 73, at Maine 66

Justin Rutty tallied a career-high 30 points on 13-of-16 shooting in the Bobcats' third win of the year... Gerald McLemore had 19 poins for Maine... Mark Socoby added 14... Sean McNally contributed nine points and 14 rebounds.

at Rhode Island 94, Hartford 77
The Rams hit 12 three-pointers, including six by Jimmy Baron in the win over the Hawks... Joe Zeglinski also had six 3-pointers and 20 points, including the 1,000th of his career. He is the second-fastest player in Hartford history to reach the milestone, completing the feat in just 70 games, one shy of Vin Baker's mark.
