Boston University, Stony Brook Advance to Women's Soccer Championship Final

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Boston University and Stony Brook University will meet in the America East Women's Soccer Championship title game after both teams won semifinal games on Sunday. The Terriers will take on the Seawolves for the crown and subsequent NCAA berth on Saturday at Nickerson Field in Boston at 1 p.m.

The top-seeded Terriers (13-5-1 Overall, 8-0-0 America East) advanced to the title game for the sixth time in 10 years by defeating No. 5 Maine (6-6-7, 3-3-2), 1-0, at Nickerson Field. Senior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge, the America East Midfielder of the Year, knifed through the defense and beat senior keeper Jasmine Phillips to score her fifth goal of the season in the 55th minute to break a scoreless tie. The Black Bears' best chance game with just under five mintues left in regulation when senior Christine LaBelle blasted a shot from 20 yards out but Boston U's Janie Reilly made a diving stop.

The second-seeded Seawolves (11-7-0, 6-2-0) won their fifth straight, shutting out No. 6 Binghamton (8-9-1, 3-5-0), 2-0, at La Valle Stadium. Senior Brooke Barbuto scored in the 32nd minute and freshman Colleen McKenna, the America East Rookie of the Year, found the back of the net in the opening minutes of the second half. America East Goalkeeper of the Year Marisa Viola made five stops to record the shutout.
