Women's Basketball: UMBC Hosts George Mason in Home Opener Tonight

Every gameday throughout the 2008-09 season, America East will provide a women's basketball update that features notes on that day's matchups as well as recaps of the previous day's action.

Wednesday, November 19
George Mason at UMBC    7 p.m.

The Retrievers welcome the Patriots to the RAC for their home opener.... UMBC trails the series, 0-6, dropping last year's meeting by just a point, 57-58.

Stony Brook at Penn State    7 p.m.
The Seawolves travel to face their second straight Big Ten opponent, having just played Michigan State... Stony Brook finds themselves in the midst of a five-game road trip after opening the season at home.

Binghamton at Colgate    7 p.m.
The Bearcats end a brief two-game road trip to open their season and will begin a four-game home stand after facing the Raiders... Binghamton defeated Colgate last season, 74-26.

New Hampshire at Massachusetts    7 p.m.
America East teams are already 1-0 against Masschusetts, Vermont having defeated the Minutewomen Friday night, and 2-2 against Atlantic 10 opponents... UNH assistant Katie Nelson played for UMass 2002-06.

Albany at Cornell    7 p.m.
The Great Danes face their fourth-straight 2008 NCAA Tournament participant dating back to Hartford in the America East Championship last season... Sophomore Janea Aiken, an all-rookie selection last year, is averaging 12.5 ppg through two games this season.

at Hartford 69, Providence 50

Junior Diana Delva posted her second double-double in as many games to open the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds.... Senior Lisa Etienne also knocked down 17 points and junior Erica Beverly put in a solid performance with 12 points, 11 boards, three steals and two blocks.

Sunday, November 16
at Michigan State 73, Stony Brook 42

Junior forward Sarah Kazadi scored a team-high 11 points and blocked two shots to lead the Seawolves in their second game in three days... Sophomore Misha Horsey led all players with 36 minutes and dished out four assists.

at #8 Duke 98, Maine 31
In front of 5,480 fans in Durham, the Black Bears forced the Blue Devils into 22 turnovers, but committed 38 turnovers themselves... Freshman Samantha Baranowski netted a team-high nine points for Maine, while junior Amanda Tewksbury picked away four steals.

at Marist 74, Albany 56 (Time Warner Cable 6)
Three Great Danes reached double-digit points, including senior Tiffanie Johnson and sophomore Janea Aiken with 11 each and sophomore Kim Clements with 10... Clements set a career high with 10 points and matched a career high with four field goals.

Saturday, November 15
at Hartford 73, Dartmouth 40

The Hawks forced 19 first-half turnovers, and limited Dartmouth to just 14 first-half points... Junior Diana Delva led Hartford with 15 points and ten rebounds, both game-highs... Eleven different Hawks recorded a point or more in the affair.

at George Washington 75, UMBC 56
Junior Carlee Cassidy, a preseason all-conference pick, scored a career-high 31 points and drained six three-pointers... The Retrievers went on a 21-3 run early in the first half to take leads of 18-8 and 24-9, but found themselves down three at the intermission.
