CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Both the Retriever men and women’s swimming & diving teams are picked to defend their crowns at the 2009 America East Championship, according to the preseason coaches’ poll. If victorious, it will be the sixth consecutive championship for the men and the third for the women.

Trailing the women by just three points in the polls is Boston University (32), last year’s runner-up. Taking third is New Hampshire (24) followed by Vermont (23), with Maine (15), Binghamton (11) and Stony Brook (7) rounding out the league.

On the men’s side, the Retrievers (16) will have to fight off the Boston University Terriers (13) in second. Third place Binghamton (12), followed by Stony Brook (7), and Maine (4), will be looking for a chance to de-thrown UMBC.
