CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - University of Hartford Lauren Aldred (Manchester, England/Oklahoma Baptist U.) recorded a hat trick to earn America East women's soccer Player of the Week honors, while University at Albany's Katie Grant (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia/Auburn Drive) scored her first collegiate goal to garner Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending October 5. 

Aldred, a senior back, scored all three Hartford goals in a 3-1 win over UMBC in America East action on Sunday. The hat trick was  the first for any Hartford player since 2004. Aldred, who leads the league with six goals on the season, helped the Hawks to their third victory in their last four games.

Grant came off the bench to score her first career goal in Albany’s 3-1 win over New Hampshire in America East action on Sunday. The goal, which also proved to be the game-winner, came in the 42nd minute. Grant, a freshman midfielder, also had an assist in the Great Danes’ first victory over the Wildcats in eight all-time meetings.

Boston University remains the lone unbeaten team in America East play through the first full week of conference play. Emily Pallotta (Andover, Mass./Andover) scored twice in the Terriers' 4-0 win over Vermont on Sunday. Maine joined the two-win teams after posting its second straight 1-0 decision over Binghamton on Sunday.

Albany (3-11-0, 1-2-0 America East) split its America East Conference matches this past week ... After falling at Maine by a score of 1-0 on Oct. 2, the Great Danes defeated New Hampshire, 3-1, on Oct. 5 ... UAlbany entered the UNH match winless in seven contests, having dropped the previous two meetings by scores of 3-0 and 4-0 ... The goal scored by freshman Kendra Harrell-Vigil (Avondale, Ariz./Westview) in the 18th minute broke a regular goal-scoring drought that lasted 571:24 ... Coming off the bench in the late stages of the first half, freshman Katie Grant (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia/Auburn Drive) scored her first career goal which would stand as the game winner in the 42nd minute ... She also assisted on the insurance tally converted by sophomore Teresa Boring (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) in the 84th minute ... Senior goalkeeper Amber Maisonet (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) has made six consecutive starts and earned her first collegiate victory versus New Hampshire ... She has an .849 save percentage and a 1.33 goals against average in her six starting assignments ...After surrendering 2.75 goals per game in the first eight matches, the defense has only given up 1.33 goals per game over the last six matches ... UAlbany plays its final non-conference match of the regular season at Dartmouth at 6 p.m.  on Oct. 7 ... The squad stays on the road to visit Hartford for a 12 p.m. match on Oct. 12.

Binghamton (5-5-1, 1-2-0 America East) split a pair of one-goal conference games during the week, beating UMBC 1-0 on the road before losing 1-0 to Maine at home... The loss was the team’s fourth one-goal loss of the season and fourth defeat in its last five games... Sophomore forward Dani Raske (River Vale, N.J./Pascack) netted the game-winner against the Retrievers in the first half.  It was Raske’s fifth tally of the season... Junior keeper Jen McEachron (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick
Falls) made six saves for her fourth shutout of the season... Against Maine, the Bearcats surrendered the game’s lone goal in the 56th minute... Binghamton will host Boston University in a nationally-televised game Thursday night from the Bearcats Sports Complex.  The game will be broadcast live on the Fox Soccer Channel.

Boston University (7-5-1, 2-0-0 America East) offense continued to shine last week, as it exploded for its best offensive showing in a year with a 4-0 victory over Vermont on Sunday afternoon. It was the Terriers’ largest margin of victory since a 4-0 win over Albany on Oct. 4, 2007. BU began the week with a 1-1 draw with Ivy League foe Dartmouth on Wednesday evening. In the Terriers’ 4-0 victory in Burlington, Vt., junior Emily Pallotta (Andover, Mass./Andover) led the way with two goals and classmate Farrell McClernon (Westchester, Pa./Merion Mercy) added a goal and an assist. Also getting on the scoreboard was senior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) with a goal, as well as sophomore Mara Osher (Rockville, Md./Stone Ridge) with two assists. Earlier in the week the Terriers traveled to Dartmouth and came away with a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of action. Sophomore Corie Halasz (Milford, Conn./Lauralton Hall) scored off a pass from freshman Jessica Luscinski (Bedford, N.H./Trinity). In all, six Terriers collected points in two games last week and five recorded multiple points.

Hartford (5-4-3 overall, 2-1-0 America East) picked up a pair of conference victories last week against Vermont and UMBC. The Hawks beat the Catamounts 2-0 in Burlington, VT before returning home to hand the Retrievers a 3-1 defeat at Alumni Stadium... Freshman Breeanna Robinson (East Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) provided all the offense at Vermont, recording her second multi-goal game of the season. She ranks second on the team in scoring with four goals for eight points... Senior Lauren Aldred (Manchester, England/Oklahoma Baptist University) netted a hat trick against UMBC, the first Hartford player since the 2004 season to score three goals in a game. She leads the team in scoring with six goals for 12 points... Freshman Lauren Brodeur (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) picked up her fourth shutout of the year at Vermont and finished with seven saves. She entered the week ranked 20th in the country in save percentage... Hartford will play at Maine on Thursday, October 9 before hosting Albany on Sunday, October 12.

Maine (5-2-4, 2-1-0 America East) beat Albany at home 1-0 and defeated Binghamton on the road 1-0...In the game against Albany, senior captain Jasmine Phillips (Nepean, Ontario/Merivale) made 12 saves in net for the shutout...Christine LaBelle (Nepean, Ontario/Mother Teresa) scored when she dribbled to the end line and cut across the goal mouth before blasting one in off the goalie’s hands...It was LaBelle’s team-leading fourth goal of the season...Veronique Fleury (Montreal, Quebec/College Saint Sacrement) had four shots on goal for Maine...Kim Stephenson (Hampden, Maine) had three shots...Albany had a chance to tie it, but Phillips made a great diving save to preserve the win...Against Binghamton, Anjelica Hodgson (Nepean, Ontario/John McCrae) headed in a ball in the 56th minute for the game-winner...Junior fullback Cristina Di Ielsi (Laval, Quebec/Vincent Massey Collegiate)  assisted on Hodgson’s goal as her free kick went to Hodgson six yards from the goal line...Phillips leads America East in overall goals against average with a 0.56 mark and in shutouts with six...Despite playing in only eight games, freshman Carolyne Nellis (Quebec City, Quebec/FX Garneau) is tied for fifth in overall assists with three...Maine returns to action on Thursday when Hartford comes to Orono to play a 3 p.m. game...The Black Bears then travel to take on Boston University on Sunday at 1 p.m.

UMBC (2-11-0, 1-2-0 America East) dropped a pair of America East Conference games last week, falling at home to Binghamton, 1-0, on Oct. 2, then on the road at Hartford, 3-1, on Oct. 5... Senior goalie Christine Bacinski (Hampstead, Md./Mount de Sales) recorded eight saves on the week... Sophomore back Christine Sadowski (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) scored her first career goal in the 73rd minute against the Hawks... Senior back Kali Schwartz (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown South) was credited with the assist on the free kick... Sophomore midfielder Morgan Warrington (Magnolia, Del./St. Thomas Moore Prep) leads the Retrievers with two goals, four points and 20 shots on the season... Next up for the Retrievers is a match at America East rival New Hampshire on Oct. 9... UMBC then returns home to take on conference foe Stony Brook on Oct. 12.

New Hampshire (3-8-1, 2-1-0 America East) went 1-1-0 last week, downing Stony Brook at home, 3-2, and falling on the road at Albany, 3-1 ... senior forward Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) netted a pair of goals in her return from a seven-game absence to propel the Wildcats to the victory over Stony Brook ... senior midfielder Caitlin Whelan (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) scored the game-winner versus Stony Brook on a blast that just snuck under the crossbar ... sophomore midfielder Amy Avitabile (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke)  recorded the first goal of her collegiate career at Albany ... freshman midfielder Stephanie Gilkenson (Cranston, R.I./LaSalle Academy) collected two more assists during the two games and is now tied for the conference lead with five ... Gilkenson assisted on Whelan’s game-winner against Stony Brook and added a helper on Avitabile’s goal versus Albany ... senior forward Sara Hourihan (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) picked up an assist against Stony Brook and is one off the  conference points lead (12) ... junior forward Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) tallied an assist at Albany and is tied for the conference lead with five ... junior midfielder Morgan Keefe (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) recorded her first point of 2008 with an assist versus Stony Brook ... senior goalkeeper Nikki Golding (Milton, Mass./Milton) made nine saves against Stony Brook to keep her 2008 conference record perfect (2-0-0) ... Golding is now 6-0-0 all-time versus conference opponents ... junior goalkeeper Ally Yost (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) made four saves against Albany and allowed more than two goals in a game for this first time all season ... the Wildcats return to action Thursday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. when they play host to UMBC at Lewis Fields.

Stony Brook (5-6-0, 1-1-0 America East) lost to defending regular season champion New Hampshire, 3-2, on Thursday afternoon ... Freshman Colleen McKenna scored both Stony Brook goals against the Wildcats ... McKenna leads the Seawolves with four goals and nine points ... Senior Brooke Barbuto assisted on McKenna’s first goal and now leads the team with three assists ... McKenna is the first Stony Brook player to score two goals in a goal since Tiffany Fasullo did it on Oct. 8th, 2004 in a 2-1 SBU victory over Vermont ... Junior goalkeeper Amanda Hemme made her first career start in net on Thursday against New Hampshire, making two saves ... Stony Brook hosts Vermont on Thursday ... The Seawolves defeated the Catamounts 1-0 last season on a late Brooke Barbuto goal ... SBU will embark on a three-game road trip after Thursday’s contest with UVM ... Vermont (2-10-0, 0-2-0 America East) dropped a pair of games in the opening weekend of America East action ... The Catamounts fell 2-0 to Hartford and was shutout by Boston University, 4-0 ... Head coach Kwame Lloyd used his 12th different starting lineup in the game versus the Terriers ... Junior goalkeeper Eliza Bradley (Charlotte, Vt.) totaled 22 saves in the two games and brings her career total to 299, third all-time at Vermont ... UVM continues America East play with two games on tap this week, the Catamounts travel to Stony Brook on Thursday (Oct. 9) for a 7 p.m. game and then face New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. on Sunday (Oct. 12) at 1 p.m.
