Felce And Mosser End Regular Season Competition With Performer Of The Week Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Stony Brook’s Alex Felce and Boston University’s Sarah Mosser earn male and female America East Performer of the Week honors for the week ending October 27, the last week of regular season competition as teams prepare for the America East Championship on Saturday, November 1, in Baltimore.

Felce, a junior, ran for first place in this weekend’s Central Connecticut State Mini-Meet, beating out a field of 147 other runners. Felce completed the 5k course in a time of 14:44 and helped propel the Seawolves to a second-place overall finish out of 14 teams.

Mosser, a junior, also competed at the Central Connecticut State Mini-Meet, where she paced the Terriers and the 117-runner field, finishing the two-mile course in a time of 11:09 for a first-place overall finish. The win marked the first individual victory of Mosser’s career and helped Boston University earn a first-place overall finish heading in to the conference championship.

Albany- The Great Danes, after a strong showing at the UAlbany Invitational last week, did not compete this week. At the invitational, all seven of the men’s runners posted season best times, as did five of the six finishing women. Albany looks to improve upon last year’s sixth- and seventh-place finishes at the conference championship for the women and men, respectively.

Binghamton- The Bearcats rested their legs this week in preparation for the America East Conference Championship this Saturday, November 1, at Oregon Ridge Park, Md. Both teams were projected to move up a spot from last year’s finish at the championship, and are expected to place fourth on the women’s side, and fifth on the men’s.

Boston U.- The Terriers ran in the Central Connecticut State Mini-Meet this past weekend, along with America East rivals Hartford, Stony Brook and New Hampshire. Junior Sarah Mosser, this week’s female Performer of the Week, led the pack with her time of 11:09 in the two-mile course and earned a first-place finish. The Terrier women were first overall out of 14 teams, their second team win of the season, and have had a Boston U. runner win all four of their races so far. Freshman Colin Lee was the only entrant on the men’s side, finishing the race in 81st-place out of 148 runners.

Boston's Story

Hartford- The Hawks, along with the Terriers, the Seawolves and the Wildcats, competed at the Central Connecticut State Mini-Meet this past weekend where the women earned an 11th-place finish, and the men earned 12th. Leading the women was senior Elizabeth Foster who ran for seventh-place in the 117-runner field with a time of 11:25. Foster set a personal-best for the two-mile course, and has been the top-finisher for Hartford in each of their five meets this season. On the men’s side, sophomore Jonas Hampton paced the Hawks with his season’s best 14th-place finish and personal best time of 15:35 in the 5k race.

Hartford's Story

UMBC- The Retrievers, who will be hosting the America East Conference Championship this Saturday, November 1, did not compete in preparation for the championship. UMBC will look to use its home-course as an advantage when it takes on the rest of the conference.

Maine- The Black Bears, who did not compete this week, will be looking to edge out some of the other teams in the conference at the championship this Saturday. According to the preseason coaches’ polls, the women will be fighting the Bearcats for position while the men, who tied with the Retrievers for third, will look to pick up crucial points from their lead runners.

New Hampshire- The Wildcats were one of four America East teams to compete in the 14-team field at the Central Connecticut State Mini-Meet this weekend. The men, paced by senior Marc Ouellette’s third-place finish, earned first-place overall. Ouellette completed the 5k in a time of 14:53, catapulting the men to a crucial victory heading in to Conference Championships. For the women, sophomore Lindsey Jeltes earned a 30th-place finish in the 117-runner field with a time of 11:57 in the two-mile course. The women went on to finish in eighth place overall.

Stony Brook- Junior Alex Felce, this week’s male Performer of the Week, earned a first-place finish out of 148 runners at the Central Connecticut State Mini-Meet where he took on cross-conference rivals Boston U., Hartford and New Hampshire. Felce completed the 5k in a time of 14:44 and helped lead the men to a second-place overall finish out of 14 teams. The women rested their top runners this weekend in preparation for the upcoming America East Championship on Saturday, and were led by sophomore Leanne Skrabacz with a 28th-place finish and time of 12:06 in the two mile race.

Stony Brook's Story

Vermont- The Catamounts, who did not compete this week, have won six team titles and had three athletes earn performer of the week honors between the men and women this season. Entering into the America East Championship, Vermont will hope to continue its dominance on the course thus far.
