Cassidy Earns Third Award; Rousseau Earns First Rookie Honor

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--UMBC sophomore guard Carlee Cassidy (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) received her third America East Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for games played through December 30, while Emily Rousseau (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford), a freshman guard at Maine, earned Rookie of the Week honors. Cassidy averaged 22.5 points per game to raise her season average to a conference-best 16.7 ppg. She also shot 48.6% (17-of-35) from the floor, including 42.1% (8-of-19) from long distance, in two contests last week, and was named to the Terrapin Classic All-Tournament Team. Cassidy scored a team-high 21 points against Richmond with 14 coming in the second half. Then against #5 Maryland, Cassidy led all scorers with 24 points, one shy of tying her career high. She finished with five trifectas in the game to go along with a career-best nine field goals. In the last six games, Cassidy is averaging 20.0 ppg.

Rousseau was named to the Miami Hurricane Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 14.0 ppg through two games. The rookie poured in a game-high 16 points versus Toledo in the tournament championship, and had a team-high 12 points in the win over ACC-foe Miami. For the Tournament, Rousseau shot 40% from beyond the three-point arc and 39.3% from the field. This is her first career weekly award, and the second week in a row that a freshman guard at Maine has received rookie of the week.

The Catamounts, who faced the nation's leading scorer earlier this season, held the second-leading scorer to 15 points... Sophomore May Kotsopoulos scored a team-high 17 points.

Senior Kris Younan put together a six-assists, three-steals night... Sophomore Brittany Boser and freshman Emily Rousseau each posted a team-high 16 points... The Black Bears continued their turnover woes, turning the ball over 24 times.

A Rams layup with 20 seconds left in the game gave Rhode Island the victory... Rookie Kirsten Jeter led the Seawolves with 14 points and four rebounds.

St. Bonaventure 71, at Binghamton 65

Senior center Laine Kurpniece, the America East Player of the Game scored a team-high 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds... Junior Laura Franceski canned a career-high 19 points while blocking five shots, tied for a league game high.

Maine 55, at Miami (Fla.) 54 4
It is the second time in two years that Maine has defeated an ACC team in a regular season tournament... Freshmen Emily Rousseau posted a team-high 12 points, two assists and a block.
