CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--University at Albany's Joe Greene and UMBC's Alex Hyland earned weekly honors as America East Men's and Women's Track Performers of the Week, while University at Albany's David Parker and Jenn Gurrant received America East Field Performers of the Week. The conference made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior Greene (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech) won the 300-meter dash in a program-record time of 33.81 seconds and ran the anchor leg on the second-place, program-record setting 4x300-meter relay team that finished in a time of 2:17.95 at the Encuentro Atletismo Eugenio Guerra meet on Saturday afternoon at the Sixto Escobar Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He also placed second in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.22 seconds.
Junior Hyland (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South/St. Francis, Pa.) set a new UMBC school record in her first outing for the 2007-08 indoor track and field season. Hyland ran an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:52.47 in the 3000-meter run last Saturday at the Bucknell Gulden Relays to outdistance her closest competitor, teammate Suzanne Gabriel, by more than 30 seconds. Hyland’s time shattered the previous UMBC record of 10:06.22 in the event, set by Stefanie Thomas in 2006. In addition, Hyland anchored the distance medley relay team, which finished second at the meet in a time of 12:41.22.
Senior Parker (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) won the heptathlon at Army’s Crowell Open on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Parker scored 4,898 points by taking first in the 60-meter high hurdles (8.91), pole vault (14-3.25) and high jump (6-5) and second in the shot put (36-9.75) and long jump (22-0.75).
Junior Gurrant (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) won the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 1-inch (5.51m) at the Encuentro Atletismo Eugenio Guerra meet on Saturday afternoon at the Sixto Escobar Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Also was a member of the program-record setting 4x300-meter relay team that finished first in a time of 2:47.94.

Graduate student Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) and senior Kris Yelverton (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) swept the top two places in the men's pole vault and met the IC4A-qualifying standard in the process, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the Carlson Crowell Indoor Track Open on Saturday afternoon. Three members of the women's track and field team competed at Yale University this weekend. Senior Dana Hastie (Wellington, New Zealand) opened her indoor season with a win in the 3,000-meter (9:54.81).
