Kearns and Cummings Earn Weekly Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--University of New Hampshire's Josh Kearns and University of Albany's Laura Cummings earn weekly honors as America East Cross Country Men's and Women's Performers of the Week for the week ending September 24.

Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) raced to a first-place finish Friday at the University of Maine, powering the University of New Hampshire men’s cross country team to a victory over Maine. Kearns finished the 8,000 meter course in a time of 25 minutes, 28 seconds.

Cummings (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) led UAlbany to a ninth-place team finish at Iona's Meet of Champions on Saturday, Sept. 22. Cummings led the Great Danes to their third top-10 finish of the season with her 11th-place individual performance, finishing in a time of 22:20.4 on the 6,000 meter course.

Albany

The UAlbany women's squad placed ninth out of 19 schools at the 13th Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions hosted by Iona College at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. on Saturday, Sept. 22 with a team score of 271. The UAlbany men's team finished 15th out of 20 schools at the event with a score of 431. [Albany Story]

Binghamton
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, Sept. 28 for the Paul Short Run being held at Lehigh beginning at 2 p.m.

Boston University

The Terriers next race will be the New England Championships at Franklin Park on Oct. 6.

Hartford
The University of Hartford men's and women's cross country team continued its season, competing at the Quinnipiac Bobcat Invitational on Friday evening. The women's team finished in a tie for fourth place overall (out of five teams), while the men finished fifth out of five teams. Quinnipiac took home first place honors in both races. Maine
The University of Maine men's cross country team came in second place to UNH on Saturday. The men's team had a close race on their hands but eventually fell to UNH by a score of 26-29. [Maine Men's Story]

The women's cross country team won their meet against UNH on Friday making it their 2nd first place finish of the season. The women's team enjoyed a tremendous day as they won the event with a score of 26. UNH finished with a score of 29. [Maine Women's Story]

UMBC
The Retrievers return to competition on Sept. 28 when they travel to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa.

New Hampshire
Sophomore runner Emily Osgood (Wellsboro, Pa.) finished in second place Friday at the University of Maine, but the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team could not run by Maine. [New Hampshire Women's Story]

Stony Brook

The Seawolves return to competition on Sept. 28 when they travel to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa.

Vermont

Vermont returns to action on September 29, half the teams will compete at the prestigious Murray Keatinge Invitational at the University of Maine and the other half of the runners will participate at the Vermont State Meet at Lyndon State College.
