CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Boston University's senior forward Hayley Hamada (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual) tallied two goals and an assist against a nationally-ranked opponent over the weekend to capture the America East Field Hockey Player of the Week. Sam Daly (Canterbury, Victoria, Australia/Methodist Ladies College) also had a successful week for Albany en route to being named the conference's Rookie of the Week. Hamada had a hand in every goal of the Terriers' 3-0 victory over 15th-ranked Virginia on Sunday in Charlottesville. The senior forward scored two goals and added an assist to help Boston U. close out the first half of the regular season with its biggest win yet. Hamada set up the goal in the 15th minute, while scoring both her goals in the second half to secure the Terriers' fifth-straight victory.
Daly recorded three goals and one assist in two games last week. The rookie notched two goals in the Great Danes' 6-1 win over Colgate and added a goal and an assist in a 3-0 shutout win over Holy Cross. Her assist against Holy Cross on Saturday ended up being on the gamewinner.

Michelle Simpson (Middlesbrough, England/University of Teesside) finished the week with two goals, scoring once in each game for the Great Danes... Simpson is tied with Savage for the team-lead in points... Junior goalkeeper Ashley Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) earned her third shutout win of the season against Holy Cross... Ross, who made four saves in the two games, is recording a 1.17 goals against average and a .784 save percentage on the season... UAlbany will open up America East Conference play on Friday, Sept. 28 at Maine before hosting non-conference opponent Massachusetts on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
Boston University (8-2, 0-0) finished out the first half of its regular season with a pair of shutout victories in Charlottesville, Va., including a 3-0 triumph over No. 15 Virginia, to extend its win streak to five games... The # 19 Terriers opened the weekend with a 3-0 decision against Longwood... Senior Sarah Shute (Lincolnville, Maine/Somers (N.Y.)) scored three goals on the weekend to move into fourth place on the Terriers' career points list with 90. She tallied a pair of unassisted goals against Longwood before scoring the gamewinner the following day against Virginia... America East Player of the Week Hayley Hamada (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual) had a hand in all three goals versus the Cavaliers, scoring twice and adding an assist... Sophomore Suus Dekker (Rotterdam, Holland/Insula College) opened the scoring against the Lancers with a penalty stroke in the third minute... Senior Hadley Adams (Barre, Mass./Quabbin Regional) assisted on the first of Hamada's two second-half goals against Virginia... Freshman goalkeeper Kim Kastuk (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) picked up both shutouts in goal, combining for five saves, including four against Virginia... The Terriers have outscored their opponents 19-5 during their current five-game win streak and are now 4-1 on the road this season... Boston U. will open its conference schedule with a home contest against New Hampshire on Friday, Sept. 28.
Fairfield's (1-8, 0-1) Liz Thomas made a career-high 18 saves in the Stag's loss to Yale on Sunday afternoon. The senior averaged 10 saves per game over a pair of contests last week, giving her 81 saves in nine games for the season. Thomas has recorded 10 or more saves in four of nine games this season, which has helped her rank among the nation's leaders in saves per game... Brittany Bates scored her first goal of the season when she converted a pass from Emily Janis against Monmouth over the weekend....Janis leads the team in scoring with two goals and one assist for five points...The Stags will take to the road for a pair of games next weekend, battling St. Francis Pa. on Friday and Lock Haven on Sunday.
Maine (4-5, 0-0) split a pair of games on the week... The Black Bears opened the weekend with a 1-0 overtime win over Rhode Island to extend their winning streak to four games... The four-game winning streak was the longest for the Black Bears since posting a four-game winning streak during the 2005 season... Maine's Amy Zdrojesky (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) scored the game-winning goal just 34 seconds into overtime on Saturday...
Zdrojesky leads Maine in scoring with three goals and three assists for nine points... Maine saw its winning streak come to an end on Sunday with a 3-2 loss to Providence... Rookie Courtney Veinotte (Canaan, Maine/Skowhegan) scored her third goal of the season on Sunday against Providence... Junior Nicole Emery (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) also is tied with Zdrojesky and Veinotte for the team-lead in goals scored with three... Junior Maygan Cassarino (Milford, N.H./Milford) posted her first shutout of the season on Saturday with the 1-0 overtime blanking of Rhode Island... She is currently 2-2 on the season with a 1.71 goals against average and a .759 save percentage... The shutout was the second of her career as she also blanked Cornell during the 2006 season... UNH was denied a fourth consecutive shutout when CMU scored on an untimed penalty corner at the end of regulation ... Margaux Shute (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan Area) held CMU scoreless in her 66:22 of action ... Shute’s shutout streak came to an end with an MSU goal at 11:26; the streak spanned five games and a total of 292:45 ... Sarah Craigue (Concord, N.H./Concord) recorded a career-high three points for the second consecutive game when she recorded a goal and an assist against Central Michigan ...
