CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-For the second-straight week, Albany's Ricardo Estremera (San Juan, Puerto Rico/University) received America East's Male Cross Country Performer of the Week for the week ending September 9. Boston University's Andrea Walkonen (Jaffrey, N.H./Conant) earned the award on the women's side leading the Terriers to a first-place meet finish over the weekend.
Estremera paced the Great Danes to a second-place finish at Stony Brook's Seawolves Invitational on Friday, September 7. The senior finished first individually at the event for the second-straight week, posting a winning time of 17:22.67 on the 5.500 meter course.
After taking a year off from competition, Walkonen returned to the Terrier's cross country team with an impressive showing in the team's first competition of the season. She finished the 5k race in first place with a time of 17:46, besting the rest of the runners by one minute and 17 seconds, and leading Boston U. to a top-place finish.

Freshmen Gerald McDonald (Pleasantville, N.Y.) and Ashley Horton (Candor, N.Y.) were once again the top Bearcat finishers as the cross country squads hosted the fifth annual Binghamton Invitational on Saturday. Boston U.
The Boston University women's cross country team had a strong showing in its first competition of the season, with four runners finishing in the top five positions on a hot and muggy Friday afternoon in Boston at the Boston University hosted cross country meet in Franklin Park. Hartford
The University of Hartford cross country teams opened the 2007 season at the Stony Brook Cross Country Invitational on Friday afternoon. The women’s team finished second overall out of four teams, while the men’s team finished fifth out of five teams. [Full Hartford Story]

The Black Bears did not run last week. Maine will compete against Vermont and UMass on Saturday, September 15 in Amherst, Mass.
UMBC
The UMBC men's and women's cross country teams began the 2007 season at the Mount St. Mary's Dual 5K's in Emmitsburg, Md. on Friday. The men finished with a 2-2-1 record, while the women ended the day with a 1-4 record. [Full UMBC Story]

For a second straight week Stony Brook's cross country teams hosted a home meet on their new course, this time hosting the Stony Brook Invitational.
