Boston U's Brittain Playing For Canada In FIBA U19 World Championships

BOSTON ? Boston University sophomore forward Scott Brittain is playing for Canada in the FIBA U19 World Championships from July 12 to July 22 in Novi Sad, Serbia. The Canadian team is in Group C, facing Australia, Nigeria and Turkey in the preliminary round.

Canada will play Australia on July 14 at 7:30 p.m. EST to finish up the opening round. In Canada’s opening action on July 12, the team defeated Nigeria by the score of 82-60. The Nigerians got off to a quick start and had a 25-19 advantage a minute into the second quarter. But the Canadians had tied the game at 35 by halftime and took a 61-48 lead by the third quarter. Brittain played 15 minutes in the win and contributed five rebounds and a block.

Against Turkey on July 13, cruised past Canada 81-58. The Canadians were behind 23-11 at the end of the first quarter and couldn't recover for the rest of the contest. Brittain finished with four points, seven rebounds and a block in 21 minutes of action.
