Sacramento, Calif. ? Binghamton's Rory Quiller (T-4th, pole vault) and Marc Pallozzi (8th, javelin) earned All-America status, placing in the top eight national in their respective events at the 2007 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championship at California State University, Sacramento's A.G. Spanos Sports Complex. In addition, Albany's Joe Greene advanced to the men's 400-meter intermediate hurdles, while New Hampshire's New Hampshire's Cathy Parker  finished 11th nationally in the 3000m steeplechase.

Quiller becomes the first Binghamton Division I athlete to earn All-America honors twice in a career. Back in March, he finished second at the NCAA Indoor Championship with a jump of 18-0 1/2. All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships are awarded to the top eight individual finishers in each event.

Friday's performance caps off the best year that any Binghamton athlete has had at the NCAA Division I level. In addition to earning a pair of All-America honors, Quiller broke the NCAA East Region Outdoor record in the pole vault two weeks ago (18-1), was named the NCAA Northeast Region Field Athlete of the Year, the America East Conference Outdoor Track Most Outstanding Field Athlete and was named the Binghamton Athletic Department Male Athlete of the Year for the second time in three years.

Pallozzi threw 68.40m in his third attempt of the night, becoming the eighth and final All-American in the javelin.

Greene finished third in his heat in a time of 50.20.  The top three in each of the two heats, along with the next best two times, automatically advanced to the finals, which will take place on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Greene, a two-time IC4A champion and the 2007 America East Conference Championship’s most outstanding performer, finished third at NCAA East Regionals to qualify for the national meet.  He sprinted a school-record 50.18 to register the best finish by a UAlbany athlete in regional competition.

Parker crossed the line in a time of 10:08.16. Parker smashed her own steeplechasse school record by over seven seconds (10:06.45) during the preliminaries. She was seeded 16th overall in the 27-member field before placing eighth in her respective heat.
