Coming off the closest championship game in league history, America East men's lacrosse champion Albany and runner-up UMBC were both rewarded for their stellar seasons with quality bids to the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship during Sunday evening's selection show.
Complete NCAA Bracket
The Great Danes were awarded the No. 5 seed overall and a home game versus Loyola (Md.) on Sunday, May 13 at 2:30 p.m. at John Fallon Field, while UMBC will travel to College Park, Md. to take on No. 7 Maryland at 7:30 p.m. Both contests will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
For the first time in league history an America East team will host a game in the national tournament. It also marks the fourth time in conference history that two teams have made the NCAA tourney in the same season, the first since 2001.
If Albany advances to the quarterfinals, then the Great Danes would take on the winner of the Towson-Cornell contest in Princeton, N.J. With a win, the Retrievers would face the winner of the Delaware-Virginia game at Navy. The 2007 Men's Lacrosse Final Four takes place at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., with UMBC serving as a co-host for the event.
