Albany's Frank Resetarits (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) continues his dominance of the America East men's lacrosse Player of the Week award as he earns the accolade for the fifth time in seven weeks this season, while UMBC's Cayle Ratcliffe (Victoria, Brit. Columbia/Western Reserve) has been named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The awards were announced Monday (April 9).
Resetarits had a season-high five goals, including three in the first half, and added two assists in a crucial 14-5 conference victory over 18th-ranked Stony Brook. He poked in a rebound off a defender’s stick in the first quarter, scored twice in a five-goal, second-quarter run that gave his team an 8-1 lead and had one goal and one assist in both the third and fourth periods. The senior reached the five-goal mark for the first time since April 29, 2006. He also moved into a tie for fourth place on the school’s career scoring list with 203 points (127 goals, 76 assists) and became the fourth player to reach the 200-career point mark.
Ratcliffe produced his sixth and seventh multi-goal games of the season with a hat-trick plus two assists in the victory over #14 Towson and two first half goals in the win over Hartford. Against the Tigers, he scored twice in the fourth quarter, including a goal with three minutes left which gave UMBC an 11-8 lead. He leads the team with 22 goals and has a team-high shooting percentage of 55 percent.

ALBANY GREAT DANES
Albany (9-0, 3-0 America East) is off to its best start as a Division I program following a 14-5 victory over Stony Brook on April 7... The Great Danes have won nine straight, their longest streak since 1972... UAlbany has beaten five top-20 teams this season, including perennial power Johns Hopkins... The Great Danes ran off five unanswered goals during a nine-minute span of the second quarter to pull away from 18th-ranked Stony Brook... Frank Resetarits (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and Derek Dale (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem) scored twice in that stretch... Resetarits finished with a season-high five goals and added two assists... He extended his consecutive game scoring streak to 40 straight, the third-longest among active players... Resetarits moved into a tie for fourth place on the school’s career scoring chart with 203 points (127 goals, 76 assists)... Merrick Thomson (Stoney Brook, Ontario/Albany Academy) is tied with Resetarits in that position on the all-time list with 156 goals and 47 assists... Thomson had four goals and one assist, all in the second half, against Stony Brook... The senior attackman has tallied five or more points on 20 occasions as a collegian... Resetarits and Thomson became the fourth and fifth players, respectively, in the program’s history to reach the 200-career point mark... Jordan Levine (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) had two first-half goals versus Stony Brook... Levine has scored multiple times against four opponents this season... John Alpizar (Summit, N.J./Summit) tied a career-high with two assists... goalkeeper Brett Queener (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) made eight saves and recorded his second assist of this season... UAlbany is ranked second nationally in the latest USILA poll and No. 3 by Nike/Inside Lacrosse... The Great Danes are second among NCAA Division I teams in scoring offense at 13.78 goals per game... UAlbany’s defense is allowing 8.0 goals per game through nine contests, as opposed to a 10.67 average at this point in the 2006 campaign.
BINGHAMTON BEARCATS
Binghamton (3-5, 2-0 America East) has won its opening two conference games for the second year in a row... sophomore attack Jake Boyce (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) has recorded four consecutive hat tricks, a feat no other player in school history has acheived. He scored a game-high three goals at No. 3 Virginia on Tuesday and followed up with a three-goal, two-assist performance against Vermont on Saturday. For the season, Boyce leads the Bearcats with 15 goals and 20 total points. He now has seven career hat tricks... freshman midfielder Steve Carlson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) ranks second on the squad with nine goals. He had a goal and an assist in the game against Virginia and an assist against Vermont... after a slow start, sophomore attack Chris Mulheron (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) has scored four goals and dished out four assists the past three games. He had a goal and an assist against Vermont... Sophomore goalie Larry Kline (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) has a goals against average rating of 6.00 in his past three games. Against America East Conference opponents, he has surrendered just 4.00 goals per outing.
HARTFORD HAWKS
Hartford (1-9, 0-3 America East) dropped a pair of games last week, falling 8-5 to Siena and 15-8 to 20th-ranked UMBC. The eight goals against the Retrievers tied a season high for the Hawks... Junior Brian Tilley (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./St. Anthony's) led the team in scoring for the week with three goals and an assist for four points... Sophomore Daniel Clough (Piedmont, Calif./Dematha) leads the team in scoring for the season with six goals and seven assists for 10 points. Tilley leads the team in goals with nine... Sophomore Jon McMahon (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) has started every game in goal this season and has made 106 saves... Hartford will play two games this week, hosting Quinnipiac on April 11 and Stony Brook on April 14.
UMBC RETRIEVERS
UMBC (6-4, 1-1 America East) sophomore midfielder Alex Hopmann (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) tied a school record with three extra-man goals, and freshman attackman Cayle Ratcliffe (Victoria, Brit. Columbia/Western Reserve) added three goals and two assists as 20th-ranked UMBC upset 12th-ranked Towson, 11-9 before 1,711 fans at UMBC Stadium on Tuesday... The Retrievers defeated the Tigers for the first time since 2003... The Retrievers now have six wins in their last eight meetings with teams ranked in the second ten (11-20) of the USILA poll... UMBC sophomore netminder Jeremy Blevins (Cockeysville, Md./Calvert Hall) made 14 saves, including nine of 12 shots on goal in the second half... The Retrievers are now 4-0 this season in games decided by three or less goals and have won four home games (4-1) by a combined six scores... The Retrievers, sixth in the nation in extra-man heading into the week, scored on four of seven chances as Hopmann tied a record shared by five others, including senior attackman Drew Westervelt (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll)... Westervelt scored twice versus Towson and posted a game-high five points (3g, 2a) versus Hartford... He now has 95 career goals and needs five more to become the 11th Retriever to hit the century mark... UMBC built a 14-2 late third quarter lead versus Hartford in the 15-8 victory... No. 18 Stony Brook (5-2, 1-1 America East) dropped a 14-5 decision to the No. 2 Albany Great Danes on Saturday afternoon in front of 2,609 at LaValle Stadium... Bobby Trenkle (Commack, N.Y.) led the SBU offense with a goal and an assist in the game while Brendan Callahan (Hanover, Md./Gonzaga) made 10 saves in the cage... The Seawolves, who stand at 5-2, 1-1 in America East play have two road games this upcoming week with Siena on Tuesday and an America East tilt against Hartford on Saturday afternoon.
VERMONT CATAMOUNTS
Vermont (3-7, 0-2 America East) lost at Binghamton 10-4 on Saturday... Senior goalie Daryl Swarts (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) made a career high 20 saves in the loss... Senior Pete Hein (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) scored his team-high 17th goal of the season against the Bearcats... Hein has recorded at least one goal in eight of 10 games this season... Senior Dan Zwirko (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) notched one goal against Binghamton to extend his team best point total to 21 (14 goals, 7 assists)... Junior Shay Cunningham (Southborough, Mass./Southborough) scored the first goal of his career in the loss against Binghamton... The Catamounts currently have a five-game losing streak... Vermont has scored just four goals in three straight games... Vermont returns to action on Tuesday (April 10) at 2 p.m. at Moulton Winder Field against Holy Cross...
