The second-ranked Great Danes cruised to a 14-5 victory over #18 Stony Brook in a crucial America East men's lacrosse contest in front of 2,609 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Saturday. With the win Albany improves to 3-0 in conference play, while the Seawolves fall to 1-1 in league action.

The Great Danes appear to be in the driver's seat to host the four-team conference tournament on May 3 and 5 at the league's highest seed. Albany has now defeated fellow conference heavyweights Stony Brook and #20 UMBC.

Steve Ammann wasted no time putting Albany up 1-0 as he tallied a goal 35 seconds into the game to give UA a one goal advantage. Frank Resetarits netted the first of his game-high five goals at the 5:35 mark to extend the lead to two before Jordan Levine's unassisted tally with 2:02 left in the first quarter gave the Great Danes a 3-0 lead.

Bo Tripodi broke the Seawolves scoring drought as Steve Waldeck found the junior attackman in front of the cage in trasistion to cut the Albany lead to 3-1 with 12:43 left in the first half. The Great Danes responded by rattling off five unanswered goals to grab a 8-1. Senior Larry Cerasi converted a Bobby Trenkle feed with 16 seconds remaining in the first half as the Seawolves went into the locker room trailing 8-2.

Trenkle would go on to net the first goal of the second half as he wrapped around the cage at the 11:02 mark. Paced by a pair of goals by Merrick Thompson, the Great Danes netted three goals in a 2:35 span to put the game out of reach at 11-3. Fil Cavallo and Michal Trojanowski both tallied man-up goals for SB down the stretch but UA closed out the game with the final three goals to grab the 14-5 victory.

Brendan Callahan made 10 saves in goal while Trenkle was the lone Seawolf with multiple points as he had a goal and an assist.

Resetarits finished with seven points while Thomson added five. Brett Queener was the difference in the game as he allowed just two goals and made eight saves while adding an assist in the win.
