Stony Brook's Amy Taylor (Owings, Md./Northern) garners America East Player of the Week accolades are leading the Seawolves to their first-ever America East Women's Lacrosse Regular-Season Championship. Albany's Jen Daly (Stowe, Pa./Pottsgrove) has been named Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while for the second time in three weeks, Boston University's Traci Landy (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) has been tabbed Rookie of the Week. The accolades were announced on Monday (April 30).
In SB’s non-conference finale, Taylor netted a hat trick in the Seawolves 15-14 loss to rival Hofstra. On Saturday, Taylor delivered a terrific performance as she tallied a game-high six points off three goals and three assists en route to clinching the No.1 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. She also added nine draw controls on the week, seven coming at Vermont, to go along with three caused turnovers. The senior is currently riding a 53 game goal scoring streak in which she has netted 133 goals and 181 points.
Daly had seven of her nine saves in the first half as her team took a 7-4 lead to the locker room. She added four ground balls and one caused turnover in a 16-7 victory over UMBC on April 28 that helped her team make the America East postseason tournament for the first time since 2005. Daly is the school’s career saves leader with 652 and has made 66 consecutive starts between the pipes.
Landy helped the Terriers close out the regular season with victories against No. 18 Dartmouth and Stanford, posting seven goals and five ground balls on the week. The freshman tallied a game-best five points, including four goals, and four ground balls in the 17-8 victory over the Big Green before adding three goals on four shots against the Cardinal.

ALBANY GREAT DANES
UAlbany (7-8, 3-3 America East) won the battle for the fourth and final America East Conference postseason tournament berth with a 16-7 victory over UMBC on April 28... The Great Danes missed the conference tourney last year after making the field in 2004 and 2005... Kate Fontana (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) had four goals and two assists, her second-best point total of the season... Fontana also became the school’s all-time scoring leader with 189 points (153 goals, 36 assists), breaking a mark held by Maria Ferrucci (2000-03)... Fontana, a three-time all-conference standout, has netted three or more goals seven times this season... Kayla Best (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) equaled a career-high with four points (3 goals, 1 assist) against UMBC... Best also accounted for four points against Stony Brook, Niagara and Virginia Tech... Best and Fontana each extended their consecutive game scoring streak to 11 straight... junior midfielder Brittany Scott (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) posted her highest point total since March 25 with one goal and two assists vs.UMBC... freshman Christine Grueniger (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) produced her sixth multi-goal game of the season with a pair of second-half scores... Rory Redmond (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) scored twice against UMBC, the sixth time this season she has found the net on multiple occasions... UAlbany had six seniors make their final home appearance at John Fallon Field... Jen Daly (Stowe, Pa./Pottsgrove) made her 66th consecutive start at goalkeeper... BINGHAMTON BEARCATS
Binghamton (1-14, 0-6 America East) dropped its final two contests of the 2007 campaign this past week, falling 18-12 at Iona on Wednesday and 22-5 in Saturday's Senior Day finale against New Hampshire... The Binghamton women's lacrosse class of 2007: Danielle Edwards (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads), Heather Grose (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown), Kerry Henley (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga), Nicole Rhodes (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale), and Anna Riordan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) was recognized priot to Saturday's contest... Edwards concluded her career with 18 goals and 24 points. She ranks second all-time on the Bearcats' goal scoring list with 71 career goals... Grose concluded her four-year Bearcat career with a two-point effort. Her first-half goal against New Hampshire was the 84th of her career, which heads the Bearcats' all-time goal scoring list. She also ranks second all-time with 114 total points... Riordan finished the afternoon with one assist to finish with a team-leading 13 on the season. For her career, she ranks third all-time with 98 points and is second with 42 assists....Henley added a pair of groundballs in her 42nd consecutive start. She finished the season ranked fourth on the team with a career-high 12 caused turnovers... Binghamton concluded their sixth varsity season and third under the tutelage of head coach Emily Edmonston with a 1-14 overall mark.
BOSTON UNIVERSITY TERRIERS
Boston University (11-5, 5-1 America East) finished off the regular season with a pair of impressive home victories, topping No. 18 Dartmouth 17-8 before posting a 12-9 win against Stanford... Boston U.'s win streak now stands at seven games, and the team has outscored its opponents 109-51 during the stretch...The Terriers' five seniors were honored prior to their final home game on Sunday against Stanford. Over the past four years, the class posted a 33-5 record at Nickerson Field... The defense held the Big Green scoreless for a stretch of 19:13 in the first half before adding a 14:21 skein in the second half. Trailing 6-5 early in the second half against the Cardinal, the Terriers scored six straight goals and held the visitors scoreless for 20:05 to take control of the game... Sophomore Sarah Dalton (Cornwall, Vt./Taft School) was a dominant force on the week with totals of 10 goals, six draw controls and four caused turnovers... Junior Lauren Morton (Glenside, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy) was a factor on both ends of the field, combining for eight ground balls, five caused turnovers, four draw controls and two goals... Freshman Traci Landy (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) tallied seven goals, five ground balls and an assist over the two contests... Junior Molly Collins (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) registered five goals and six draw controls on the week and classmate Jenna Golden (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) made a combined 12 saves... The Terriers will look to become just the second school in America East history to claim three straight conference titles (Delaware, 1997-99).
UMBC RETRIEVERS
UMBC (7-10, 2-4 America East) saw its season end with a 16-7 loss at America East rival Albany on Saturday... Just a year after hosting the conference tournament as the regular-season co-champions, the Retrievers miss the four-team America East Championships for the first time since joining the league in 2004, and UMBC will not participate in the post-season for the first time since 1997... Senior midfielder Kelly Fahey (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) scored her 100th career goal and 150th career point against the Great Danes... Fahey ranks 10th all-time at UMBC with 152 career points and took sole possession of sixth place with 52 career assists... Fahey and junior attack Ali Levendusky (Baldwin, Md./John Carroll) each finish the season with team-best nine-game scoring streaks... Sophomore midfielder Kara Dorr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) finishes the season with a team-high 29 goals, while senior attack Jen Kasper (Eldersburg, Md./South Caroll) ends the year with a team-best 44 points and 18 assists... Five Retrievers scored 20 or more goals on the season for the second year in a row.
NEW HAMPSHIRE WILDCATS
New Hampshire (7-9, 4-2 America East) closed the regular season with a season-high 22 goals against Binghamton University... The Wildcats also recorded season highs in shots (47) and ground balls (32) and allowed a season-low 16 shots in that game... Sarah Von Bargen (E. Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) matched her career high of six points with a personal-best three assists vs.the Bearcats ... Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) also tallied a career-high three assists in that game and the four-point total equaled her personal best... Alexa Webster (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) matched her career high of five goals at BU... Webster carries the team’s longest active point-scoring streak of seven games into the postseason... Maureen Wark (Yarmouth, Maine/McAuley) recorded her first career point as a Wildcat with a goal at BU... Including an eight-save effort at BU, Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) recorded an 8.47 GAA and .529 save percentage last week... A total of six Wildcats recorded double digits in ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls... Only four ?Cats started all 16 regular-season games... New Hampshire recorded the same number of shots in the first and second half (212)... The ?Cats finished with a winning road record (5-3) and did not play a neutral-site game this season... UNH has a 34-25-1 overall postseason record, which includes 6-8 in the America East tourney... The Wildcats have won five consecutive league semifinal games.
STONY BROOK SEAWOLVES
Stony Brook (13-3, 5-1 America East) went 1-1 on the week as the Seawolves wrapped up their regular season... With an 18-9 victory over America East foe Vermont on Saturday, the Seawolves clinched a share of their first-ever America East regular season crown and the first ever regular season championship by any women’s team in the Division I era... Amy Taylor (Owings, Md./Northern) paced the way with three goals and three assists in the victory while Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) tacked on two goals and three assists... Jen Sandtorv (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) made 15 saves in the cage on the afternoon and held the Catamounts to just 2 of 15 on free-position shots... Diana Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and Katie Savino (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) also added four points in the victory... In their non-conference final, SB fell to rival Hofstra, 15-14, on Tuesday afternoon... Carlee Buck (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan), Emiliy Jaissle (Northport, N.Y./Northport/Maryland), and Leggio each tallied four points in the loss... The Seawolves will host the America East Tournament beginning on Friday and will take on Albany in the semifinals.
VERMONT CATAMOUNTS
Vermont (5-12, 2-4 America East) closed out the 2007 campaign with a loss to Stony Brook, 19-8... The Catamounts finished fifth in the America East standings, the best finish since 2003 and the best finish under head coach Jen Johnson who just completed her third season at UVM... The season finale marked the final games for four Vermont seniors ? Becky Kenison (Woodstock, Vt.), Ashleigh Wilson (Long Valley, N.J.), Sarah Visinski (Amherst, N.H.) and Christine Yoon (Lexington, Mass.)... Sophomore Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario) scored a team-high four goals in the loss to Stony Brook. She finished the seaosn with a team-leading 64 points (45 goals, 19 assists), one shy of tying the school’s single-season record for most points in a season... Millar continues to lead the country in draw controls per game (5.44 ? 91 total). She is the all-time leader at Vermont in draw controls (183 ? 32 games played) and ranks 5th all-time among the NCAA Division I leaders.
