Brehm, Parker, Cotterell, Oluwanifise, Currant Earn Week Two Track and Field Honors

University of New Hampshire’s William Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) is the Men’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week, while New Hampshire’s Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) and Boston University’s Ebony Cotterell (Brockton, Mass.) share this week’s Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week honor. University of Hartford’s Anthony Oluwanifise (Queens Village, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) and Albany’s Jenn Gurrant (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) earn the Men’s and Women’s Field Performer of the Week honor, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (April 3).

Brehm, a UNH freshman, opened his first collegiate outdoor track campaign on a high note with a win in the 100-meters in a time of 11.29, and in the 200-meters, 22.87, to help the Wilcats to a 103-93 victory over America East rival Maine of Saturday.

After taking the winter season off due to an extra long cross country season, Parker picked right up were she left off as the junior took home top honors in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:38.96 and cruised to a win in the 5000-meters in 17:40.42. Parker won the 5000-meters by more than 34 seconds to open up the 2007 outdoor track season.

During the Tufts Invitational, Cotterell led the Terriers with two first-place finished, winning the 100-meters with a time of 12.25 and taking the 200-meters in 25.31.

Oluwanifise won the long jump with a season best jump of 22’ 10" outdistancing the closest competitor by more than 2’. He also won the triple jump by more than 4’ with a career best jump, increasing his own school record to 45’ 10". He finished second in the 200-meters with a season best 23.11 and also ran a leg of the 4x100 relay, which finished sixth overall.

Gurrant earns the honor for the second week in a row. At the Massachusetts Spring Meet, she was first in the long jump with a leap of 18’ 4.25". She also turned in a first-place tripple jump showing with a distance of 38’ 6.25" and finished second in the 200-meter dash to lead UAlbany to a first-place finish.
