With several playoff spots up for the grabs, the 2007 America East lacrosse regular season concludes this weekend.
Albany (12-1, 4-0 America East) has clinched the top seed and the right to host the 2007 America East Men's Lacrosse Championship on May 3 and 5.
The four-team tournament will get underway on Thursday, May 3 with semifinal action at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The title game will be played on Saturday, May 5 at 1 p.m.
UMBC (8-4, 3-1) and Binghamton (3-8, 2-2) have both also clinched berths to the conference tourney, but their seedings are to be determined.
Stony Brook (8-3, 2-2) and Hartford (2-11, 1-3) are vying for the fourth spot in the tournament. By virture of their head-to-head win over the Seawolves, the Hawks can earn the final bid to the tourney with a win on Saturday over Vermont AND a victory by UMBC over Stony Brook.
The Seawolves control their own destiny as a win over UMBC would solidify their spot in the tournament. Hartford's only way to get in is if the above scenario holds true.
On the women's side, all four seeds are still undecided.
Boston University has clinched at least a share of the 2007 America East Women's Lacrosse Regular-Season Championship.
The Terriers (10-5, 5-1 America East) have completed their conference regular-season play and will be either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed for the upcoming four-team America East Championship. Boston U. would earn the regular-season title outright and the right to host the conference tournament if Stony Brook (12-3, 4-1) drops its final league game of the season at Vermont on Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m.
With a win over the Catamounts, the Seawolves would share the regular-season title and earn the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament due to their head-to-head victory over Boston U.
New Hampshire (6-9, 3-2) currently sits in third place in the league standings and has also punched its ticket into the four-team league tourney. UMBC (7-9, 2-3), Albany (6-8, 2-3) and Vermont (5-11, 2-3) are vying for the fourth and final playoff spot.
