Boston University's Angie Martin (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough) has been named America East women's lacrosse Player of the Week for the first time this season, while teammate Jenna Golden (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) has been tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Albany's Christine Grueniger (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) has also garnered Rookie of the Week accolades for the second time this season. The awards were announced on Monday (April 23).
Martin helped the Terriers claim at least a share of the America East regular-season crown for the third-straight year, totaling eight goals and two assists in road wins against Vermont and New Hampshire. She also added four ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls on the week. The senior set career highs in goals (5) and points (7) in the 18-8 victory against the Catamounts before scoring a game-high three goals in a 7-5 triumph against the Wildcats. Martin leads Boston U. in points this season with 48.
Golden turned in her best performance of the year on Saturday, recording a season-best 13 saves in a 7-5 road triumph against New Hampshire to help Boston U. claim at least a share of the conference’s regular-season crown. For the week, Golden turned in a 6.67 goals against average and a .615 save percentage in 90 minutes between the pipes.
Grueniger tied a career-high with five points (4 goals, 1 assist) in a 17-13 conference loss at Stony Brook on April 21. Grueniger scored three times and added an assist in the opening half as she tallied her fifth multi-goal game of the season.

Albany (6-8, 2-3 America East) meets UMBC at John Fallon Field on Saturday, April 28 for the fourth and final America East Conference postseason tournament spot... The Great Danes missed the A-East tournament last year after making the field in 2004 and 2005... UAlbany dropped a 17-13 decision to Stony Brook on April 21, the highest scoring game in the history of the series... In a game of runs, UAlbany ran off four unanswered to take a 13-11 lead with 6:39 remaining, as Kate Fontana (East Syracuse, N.Y. / East Syracuse-Minoa) had three of her four goals in that stretch... The Seawolves responded with six straight over a five-minute-and-33-second span to pull out the victory... freshman attacker Christine Grueniger (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Lindenhurst) tied a career-high with five points (4 goals, 1 assist)... Grueniger produced her fifth multi-goal game of the season and her highest point total since a 5-goal effort at Niagara on March 25... BINGHAMTON BEARCATS
Binghamton (1-12, 0-5 America East) dropped a pair of contests this past week, falling 19-7 at Saint Bonaventure on Tuesday and 17-13 in a tightly contested matchup against LIU... Senior Anna Riordan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) led the squad on the week with six points (all assists). Riordan dished out a season-high four assists against the Blackbirds... The Bearcats close out the 2007 campaign this week with a road date on Thursday at Iona before hosting conference foe New Hampshire in Saturday's season finale in Vestal.
BOSTON UNIVERSITY TERRIERS
Boston University (9-5, 5-1 America East) clinched at least a share of the America East regular-season title after posting road victories against Vermont (18-8) and New Hampshire (7-5), extending its win streak to five games in the process... The Terriers have outscored their opponents 80-34 during the winning streak and have allowed more than eight goals just once in their last eight games... UMBC RETRIEVERS
UMBC (7-9, 2-3 America East) split two games last week, defeating local non-conference rival Mount St. Mary’s, 14-8, on Wednesday, before falling to America East foe Vermont, 20-10, on Saturday... Senior attack Jen Kasper (Eldersburg, Md./South Carroll) posted five points on three goals and an assist, while sophomore attack Abbey Swift (Baltimore, Md./Towson) scored a career-high four goals against the Mountaineers... Head coach Courtney Connor picked up a victory in her first game against her former team, and the Retrievers are 10-1 all-time against the Mount... UMBC scored six of the first eight goals of the second half against Vermont but could not overcome a 15-3 first-half deficit... It was the Retrievers’ first-ever loss to the Catamounts... UMBC has won four of its last six games since a five-game losing streak in March... Kasper leads the Retrievers with 41 points and 16 assists... Sophomore attack Kara Dorr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) is tops on the team with 29 goals... Senior midfielder Kelly Fahey (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) is tied for sixth all-time with 50 career assists, while Kasper is tied for eighth with 43... New Hampshire (6-8, 3-2 America East) secured a spot in the America East Championships for the 10th consecutive year ? the longest active streak in the league ? despite going 0-2 last week with losses against 19th-ranked UConn (17-9) and Boston University (7-5) ... Beth Sabiston (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) has the team’s longest active point-scoring streak of six games and she leads the team in shooting percentage (.500) ... Kellen Millard (Ipswich, Mass./Pingree) recorded her first career point with a goal versus UConn; it was also Millard’s first career start ... Seven Wildcats have recorded double digits in goals this season; that total was six a year ago ... In her second start of the season, Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) made a season-high 11 saves versus BU ... In two conference games, Milley has a 6.67 GAA and .643 save percentage ... Ashley Crook (South Burlington, Vt./Holderness), sidelined by injury for the first 13 games of the season, recorded four ground balls, one caused turnover and a draw control in her season debut against BU ... The Stony Brook University women's lacrosse team improved to 12-2, 3-1 in America East play with a pair of victories over the week... In a 15-10 win over Wagner, senior Carlee Buck (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) Tallied eight points off four goals and four assists the lead the Seawolves... Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y.) added four goals and two assists while Diana Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) finished with two goals and two assists off the bench... Jen Sandtorv (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) made 11 saves in the cage for SB, including seven in the second half... .on Saturday, the Seawolves closed out the game on a 6-0 run spanning the final 6:08 of the game to top rival Albany, 17-13, in a come-from-behind thriller at LaValle Stadium... Trailing 13-11 with 6:39 to play the duo of Leggio and Caroleo simply took over the game as the pair combined for five goals and an assist down the stretch... Leggio finished the game with five points off three goals and a pair of assists while Buck added three goals and an assist in the victory and Sandtorv made 13 saves in the game... The Seawolves wrap up the regular season with a non-conference battle at rival Hofstra on Tuesday and can clinch a share of the regular season title with a win at Vermont on Saturday afternoon.
VERMONT CATAMOUNTS
Vermont (5-11, 2-2 America East) went 1-1 on the week, falling to Boston U 18-8 then rebounded with a decisive 20-10 victory over UMBC. Senior Becky Kenison (Woodstock, Vt./Woodstock) netted a team-high seven goals on the week. She begins the week with 97 career goals and is three shy of becoming the third Catamount to record 100 career goals. She has 114 career points, ranking her sixth all-time, and she is one of eight Vermont players to record over 100 points. Sophomore Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario/Sinclair Secondary) netted five goals in Vermont’s victory over UMBC. She leads the team in scoring with 60 points on 41 goals and 19 assists. Her 60 points this season are five shy of the all-time single season record at Vermont. Millar is also four assists shy of becoming the all-time assists leader at Vermont, she has 45 heading into the final regular season game of the year. Millar leads the country in draw controls with 87 this season and has 179 in her career, ranking her sixth all-time among NCAA leaders. Vermont closes out the regular season hosting Stony Brook as part of a lacrosse doubleheader on Saturday (April 28). The UVM men’s team hosts Hartford at 11 a.m. and will be followed by the women’s game at 2 p.m. at Moulton Winder Field.
