Vermont's Emilie Clark (Calais, Vt./Union 32) has been named America East Player of the Week for women's lacrosse, while Boston University's Jenna Golden (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) has earned Defender of the Week accolades and New Hampshire's Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) has been tabbed Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. The awards were announced Monday (April 2).
Clark set a new single-game record at UVM for most points in a game with 14 in a victory over Siena. The junior also tied the school records for most goals (8) and assists (6) in a single-game. She entered the game with 16 points and seven goals. The UVM record for most points in a game stood since 1983.Clark's 14 points are the most in the country in the Division I level this season and is tied for third all-time in the NCAA for points in a single-game.
Golden had two of her best performances of the year, posting a combined 7.29 goals against average during the Terriers’ home victories over Boston College and UMBC. The junior saved seven of BC’s final nine shots on goal to help Boston U. earn a 9-7 comeback victory.
Kaplan recorded five goals ? including three against Vermont ? to continue her season-long streak of scoring every game. Kaplan not only has scored every game this season, but has put up multiple points in each as well. She notched the game-winning-goal in the win against Vermont.

ALBANY GREAT DANES
UAlbany (5-4, AE 1-0) won its America East Conference opener for the first time since 2004 with a 16-6 victory at Binghamton on March 31... The Great Danes have posted four straight wins, tying their longest streak at the Division I level... UAlbany leaped to a 3-0 lead in the opening five minutes and 10 seconds... Kate Fontana (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) had a hand in all three goals, scoring twice unassisted and feeding Sarah Spillett (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) for another... Fontana equaled a career-high with seven points (5G, 2A) on the afternoon, matching a total she previously had against Vermont on April 23, 2004... Kayla Best (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) ignited a five-goal run that gave her team an 8-1 advantage with 5:17 to play before halftime... Best, who has reached the scoring column in eight of nine games this season, finished with one goal and two assists... freshman Christine Grueniger (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) netted two of her four goals in that stretch... Grueniger has 12 goals over her last three starts after scoring once through the opening six games of the schedule... Spillett tied a career-high with four goals and matched a season-best with five points... Spillett, a senior attacker, is seventh in career goals (81) and eighth in scoring with 130 points on the school’s charts... Rory Redmond (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) has scored two or more goals in four consecutive games... Fontana, a three-time all-conference midfielder, has climbed into third place on UAlbany’s all-time scoring list with 168 points (136 goals, 32 assists)... She needs 17 points to become the career leader and break a standard held by Maria Ferrucci (2000-03)...
BOSTON UNIVERSITY TERRIERS
Boston University (4-4, 1-0) had its best week so far this season, posting home victories over Boston College and UMBC... On Wednesday, the Terriers used a 5-1 run over the final 20 minutes of regulation to earn a 9-7 come-from-behind win over the Eagles... Sophomore Sarah Dalton (Cornwall, Vt./Taft School) tallied three goals and an assist - all in the second half - and junior goalkeeper Jenna Golden (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) stopped seven of the Eagles' final nine shots on goal... In its conference opener on Saturday, Boston U. raced out to a 6-1 lead at the half against the Retrievers and never looked back in an eventual 15-7 victory... A trio of Terriers had three-goal efforts against UMBC, including Dalton, junior Lauren Morton (Glenside, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy) and senior Angie Martin (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough)... Martin added an assist for a game-high four points... Junior Molly Collins (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) recorded five caused turnovers, four draw controls, three ground balls and two goals on the week... Freshman Traci Landy (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) scored two goals in each of the two victories... Sophomore Kelly Munroe (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) recorded her first collegiate goal in the win over UMBC.
UMBC RETRIEVERS
UMBC (3-7, 0-2 America East) dropped its only game of the week, 15-7, to defending America East champion Boston University on March 31... The Retrievers have now lost five in a row... After averaging 12.8 goals in their first five games of the season, the Retrievers have scored just 6.6 per game in the five consecutive losses... Sophomore midfielder Kara Dorr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) posted her fourth hat trick of the season to lead UMBC against the Terriers... Senior attack Heather Licht (Sparks, Md./Hereford) was the only other Retriever to score multiple goals in the game... Sophomore goalie Susie Sweeney (Madison, N.J./Madison) posted a season-high 12 saves at Boston U.... Senior attack Jen Kasper (Eldersburg, Md./South Carroll) leads the Retrievers with eight assists on the season and ranks eighth all-time at UMBC with 47 career helpers, while senior midfielder Kelly Fahey (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) is tied for ninth all-time with 43 career assists... Dorr leads the Retrievers with 18 goals on the season and is tied with Fahey and junior attack Ali Levendusky (Baldwin, Md./John Carroll) for the team lead with 21 points apiece... The Retrievers host local rival American on April 4 in non-conference action, then return to America East play on April 7 when Binghamton comes to UMBC Stadium.
NEW HAMPSHIRE WILDCATS
New Hampshire (5-4, 2-0 AE) won its second America East conference game of the season with a 16-8 victory against Vermont on March 31... Sophomore Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass./Reading) netted a career-high five goals, while freshman Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) tallied three goals, including the game-winner, to go along with an assist in the win over the Catamounts... Kaplan has recorded multiple-points, scoring at least one goal, in every game this season ... Sophomores Ashley Durepo (Concord, N.H./Concord) and Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) combined for the four of the six straight goals recorded by the Wildcats to open up the second half of play... Freshman goalie Natalie Jones (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) recorded a career-high 15 saves in the game for the Wildcats... In non-conference action this week the Wildcats fell to Hofstra, 9-6... Von Bargen and Kaplan each notched two goals in the game for the New Hampshire... The Wildcats outscored the Pride in the second period, holding Hofstra to just one goal in the final half of action... Jones tallied eight saves to total 215 saves on the season... The Wildcats host Vanderbilt on April 4 before traveling to Albany for an America East match up on April 7.
STONY BROOK SEAWOLVES
Stony Brook strung together it's fifth-consecutive victory with a 16-14 win over Oregon this week... The trio of Amy Taylor (Owings, Md./Northern), Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore), and Carlee Buck (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) each tallied five points in the victory over the Ducks... Taylor and Leggio each netted four goals while Buck dished four assists in the win, the fifth-straight for SB... The five-game winning streak is the longest in program history as the Seawolves sit one game away from tying a program record for wins in a season... The Seawolves will take on rival Boston University of Saturday at 4 p.m.
VERMONT CATAMOUNTS
Vermont split on the week, defeating Siena 19-8, but falling to UNH, 16-8 in the league opener for the Catamounts on Saturday ... Junior Emilie Clark (Calais, Vt./Union 32) had a record setting day to lead UVM past Siena ... Clark set a new single-game school record for most points with 14, breaking the mark of eight points held by six different players that had stood since 1983 ... Clark also tied the single-game school records for most goals (8) and most assists (6) ... She entered the game with 16 points and seven goals on the season ... Sophomore Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario/Sinclair Secondary) has recorded at least one point in 23 consecutive games dating back to last season ... Overall, Millar has registered at least one point in 24 of the 25 games she has played in as a Catamount ... Vermont hosts 2006 NCAA Runner-up Dartmouth on Tuesday (April 3) at 4 p.m., then travels to LeMoyne for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday (April 7).
