Stony Brook University’s Brian Farrell (Wicklow Town, Ireland/Abbey Community College) and University at Albany’s Jessica Ortman (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) receive the Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week honors, respectively. Albany’s Mike McCadney (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech) and Brenna Militello (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) earn the Men’s and Women’s Field Performer of the Week honors, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (April 10).

Farrell finished fourth in the men’s 3000-meter with a time of 8:20.97, shading .34 of a second off the school record, as he led the Seawolves at the Duke Invitational.

At the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Ortman captured the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.88. She became the first-ever UAlbany track and field athlete to win an event at the Texas Relays. Ortman also ran the fourth leg in the 1,600 sprint-medley relay that hit the tape in 4:03.06, good for an 11th-place finish. The time toppled the previous school record of 4:07.09 set in 1998. She anchored the 4x800-meter relay that qualified for the ECAC meet in May. The relay team of Adanna Andrews, Anisha Andrews, Helene Abiola and Ortman finished in 8:58.50, placing seventh.

McCadney finished third in the triple jump by tying a 16-year-old school record, at the Texas Relays. He jumped 50-feet, 6-inches to equal a mark established by Peter Rugel in 1991. McCadney’s performance qualified him for both the NCAA East Regional in Gainesville, Fla. and the IC4A championships in May. During the indoor season, McCardney won the America East title and place second at the IC4A meet.

At the Duke Asics Invitational, Militello finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet, 5-inches.
