While Hartford came up just short of capturing its third-straight America East women's basketball title, the Hawks have earned an automatic bid into the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). Hartford will play host to Bucknell at Chase Arena on Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m.
Thursday will be Hartford’s first-ever trip to the Postseason WNIT. The Hawks will have the luxary of play in the friendly confines of Chase Arena. Hartford is 25-1 at home over the past two seasons. The Hawks become the third America East team to host a game in the WNIT. In 2002, Vermont hosted two rounds, winning both, at Patrick Gym, while Maine lost to Creighton in 2003 at Alfond Arena.
Hartford becomes the first America East team to participate in the Preseason and Postseason WNIT in the same season. Earlier this year, the Hawks defeated Dartmouth in the opening round of the Preseason WNIT before falling to eventual champion Purdue.
