Close to 2,000 fans voted during the preliminary round of voting and a senior, a junior and a freshman comprise the well-balanced field of finalists for the first-ever America East Women's Basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year award. Hartford's Danielle Hood, Boston U.'s Katie Meinhardt and Vermont's Courtnay Pilypaitis garnered the most votes in the preliminary round to advance to the finals.
Fans now get to vote again for the finalist of their choice to determine the 2007 America East Women's Basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year. Hood owns a commanding lead heading into final round, having collected (685) votes. Meinhardt is in second with (331) votes, while Pilypaitis is third with (220). The preliminary-round vote totals listed below will be added with the finalist vote totals. Voting will end on Sunday and the winner will then be announced at the conference's annual awards brunch on Thursday, March 8 at 10 a.m.
