The Albany men and Boston U. women indoor track and field teams lead after day one of the 2007 America East Indoor Track and Field Championship at Boston University's Tennis and Track Center on Friday, February 16.

On the men’s side, Albany (50.5) leads Binghamton (40) by 10.5 points. New Hampshire is in third place with 34.5, followed by Stony Brook with 24. UMBC, Boston, Maine are all close with 16, 15 and 14, respectively, and Vermont (1) and Hartford (0) round out the standings.
Boston U. is at the top of the women’s poll with 58 points, 10 more than New Hampshire (48), and Albany follows closely with 47. Binghamton is in fourth with 28, followed by Vermont, 15. UMBC and Maine are tied with 13 points, and Stony Brook and Hartford finished with 8 and 4 points respectively.
Day one of competition included eleven scoring events, five for the men and six for the women.
Maine’s Arel Gordon set meet records in his preliminary runs, finishing the 55-meter dash in 6.19 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 21.29 seconds. Gordon’s 55 dash time is an NCAA provisional time. The Boston University men broke last year's meet record time in the distance medley relay, finishing in a time of 9:54.59. Pole Vaulter, Rory Quiller of Binghamton beat his own 2005 America East record, jumping 5.40 meters. The only female to set a meet record during day one events was Boston University’s Tahari James; she broke a 14-year-old record in the long jump, leaping an NCAA provisional distance of 6.10 meters.
New Hampshire’s Jordan Horwitz took first place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:24.14, while teammate Jeffrey Kaste threw 17.70 meters to win the weight throw. Albany’s Kamilah McShine finished first in the pentathlon with 3594 points. Alyssa Lotmore of Albany won the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:59.82. The Boston University’s women’s distance medley relay team took first place in 12:14.26. Another Boston athlete finished first in the Pole Vault at a height of 3.45 meters. UMBC’s Ashley Fauntleroy threw 15.72 meters to win the weight throw.
The second and final day of the Indoor Track and Field Championship is Saturday, February 17 starting at 10 a.m.
