CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Binghamton University's Brenno Varanda and University of Vermont's Kate Weaver earned weekly honors as America East Men's and Women's Swimming Performers of the Week, while Boston University's Andre Warson and Tess Waresmith were named America East Men's and Women's Diving Performers of the Week. The conference made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon for the week ending December 3.
Senior Varanda (St. Petersburg, Fla./Northeast) recorded a pair of individual wins to pace the Bearcat men's efforts against a strong Cornell program on Saturday in Ithaca. Varanda won the 200 IM in 1:57.54 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:09.00 and was runner-up in the 400 IM in 4:07.98. He now has a Bearcat-high 12 individual victories this season.
Freshman Weaver (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) broke four school records and one freshman mark at the Nutmeg Invitational over the weekend, as part of a nine-team non-scoring meet. Weaver took first in the 100 backstroke with a new school record time of 57.43, while also establishing a new varsity mark with a second place showing in the 200 IM (2:07.88). With a time of 57.89 in the 100 butterfly, Weaver broke the school freshman record as she finished second. On Sunday she won the 200 backstroke (2:01.61), and in the opening leg of the 200 freestyle relay Weaver set a new 100 freestyle school record (52.53).
Freshman Watson (Hempstead, N.Y.) claimed the one-meter board with 324.68 points and won the three-meter with 321.23 points.
Junior Waresmith (Dover, Mass./Dover Sherborn) won the one-meter board with 266.55 points, and the three-meter with 311.55 points.

BinghamtonHost Cornell won 25 of 32 events en route to a dual meet sweep over the Binghamton swimming and diving squads on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Pool. The Big Red men were victorious by a 175-114 margin, while the women came out on top by a score of 211-87.
[Binghamton Story]Boston UniversityThe Boston University men's and women's swimming and diving teams won 23 of 32 events, including a sweep of the diving events, as both teams cruised to victories over Stony Brook on Saturday evening. The women defeated the Seawolves 176.5 to 117.5 while the men earned 175 points to SBU's 120.
[Boston's Story]Mainehe men's and women's swimming and diving teams both placed second at this weekend's Harold Anderson Invitational at the University of Rhode Island. The women's team finished with 676 total points, while the men finished with 492.5. The Rhode Island Rams won both the men's and women's meets on Saturday.
[Maine's Story]UMBCThe Retrievers are finished with competition for 2007 and will resume dual meet competition in the New Year, as they take on the Terrapins from Maryland on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 5:00 p.m. at the UMBC Natatorium.
New HampshireAfter a December hiatus, the Wildcats will travel to the Bahamas for winter training. During the camp, which will take place Jan. 4-12, the Wildcats will face North Dakota on Jan. 5.
Stony BrookBoth the Stony Brook men and women's swimming and diving teams lost to Boston University Saturday afternoon at the Aquatic Center. The men lost by a final score of 175-120, while the women's score finished at 176.5-117.5 in favor of the Terriers.
[Stony Brook Story]VermontThe University of Vermont swimming and diving team wrapped up the second day of the Nutmeg Invitational hosted by Yale on Sunday with a solid team effort. The Catamounts picked up two more individual first place finishes and won a relay in the non-scoring event.
